I have tried to give a great deal of latitude to Donald Trump in his run for the Presidency.
He is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.
Decency is one of those lines.
As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.
In a CNN interview, Mr. Trump said of Megyn Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”
It was not the “blood coming out of her eyes” part that was the problem.

I think that is true. And I’ve been very sympathetic to Donald Trump because so many of the people who have led the party astray refuse to even treat him as a legitimate candidate.
But I also think that while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross.
His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just don’t want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. It just was wrong.
I have invited Megyn Kelly to attend in Donald Trump’s place tomorrow night.

I did a quick google search and found a great amount of negative articles from Erickson on Trump, including from a month ago. Even the one you are referring to makes Erickson sound like a "compassionate conservative" type.
Rush? No, Erickson has been hysterical about Trump for ages now. Rush is no hysterical busy body. He’d be showing it already, with blood coming out of his eyes, and, wherever.

I am not even a Trump guy...but kelly needs to be cut down.
I am a Cruz supporter, so I want Trump out at some point, but not like this.

Go back to CNN to be with your own kind, Erickson. What a loser. Is he really just concluding that a Trump slip of the tongue meant MEGYN’s on the RAG??? I didn’t read it that way at all. His advisers said he meant to say “whatever” after probably thinking about blood shooting out of her mouth and thinking it didn’t make sense. He then said the eyes comment about that Demoncat Wallace as well.
He runs a blog that gets about 30% of the traffic as FR, but thinks its National Review or something.

He went further than a tad, but you’re right. Inviting Kelly was stupid also.
I hadn’t even heard about this one. I thought the “bimbo” comment was bad. This goes beyond poor taste.
I’ll just stick to supporting Cruz the best I can.
He’s been around the political scene for years.
Always trying to make a “name” for himself but will always be relegated to the “kids” table of politics.
He just doesn’t have it in him to up his game, so has to constantly try to be relevant, to no avail in the long run.
I noticed that Katie Pavlich was at his little thingie with a mic.
She’s pretty savvy, she will figure him out quickly I would imagine.
Erickson did garner a bit of respect a decade ago or so here at FR, but it wasn’t long until it was realized he didn’t have the creds to be a contender.

Erickson’s a loser.
All the other candidates got tough questions delivered by a sharp stick, the difference is that they parried the “gotcha” questions and didn’t start rolling around in the mud with the moderator to deflect from the question.

Interesting that Erickson at same time in the previous election cycle also attacked a leading contender for the GOP nomination.
