His memory was erased. They do that, you know. I guess tokin' with Bill will do that. Still, it comes across much like a deadbeat dad saying that his greatest regret is that he didn't take care of his child, and the child is living just down the road and is only 5 years old, and there's plenty of opportunity for him to step up, right now, and do the right thing.
