Scott Walker: 'I Would Love to Have' Romney's Endorsement

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes Mitt Romney is a "good man and would have been a good president," but now that the former Massachusetts governor has officially backed out of the 2016 race, Walker would like his support among the list of possible Republican presidential hopefuls.

"I would love to have his endorsement," Walker told Fox News Channel's Bret Baier during a segment that aired Friday of an interview that will be running as part of a series surrounding potential 2016 candidates.

At the same time, Walker said that he thinks it is "a time for new fresh ideas," and he appreciates "the fact in his comments that he pointed out it is time to maybe pass the torch and look for new leadership."

Walker, who took a call from Romney while he was being interviewed by Baier, said that there is no doubt that Romney's decision not to mount a third try at the presidency changes the Republican landscape....

Makes absolute sense to me.

Do you think Romney would have repealed Obamacare, really? his own signature law in Mass???

Do you realize Zerocare was the main reason for the crossover support that returned the Senate to us?

Have you ever heard Walker say *anything* about repealing zerocare? The law that for the first time in history, taxes you just for being alive?

Romney promised to repeal it. While not my candidate, he is a man of honor and I believed that.

Yes, I know why we won the Senate and that many of the Dems who voted for Obamacare are out.

Walker did not put Wisconsin into the exchanges or take the Medicaid money. That tells me where he stands.

But, how about you give him some time to present his actual positions? He is not an official candidate yet.

Or are you so afraid of him that you would prefer to attack him instead of Bush or Christie?

Walker took on one of the biggest, most-entrenched Democrat machines, and won. That’s a darn big accomplishment, no matter where he stands on other issues. If he could simply repeat that success on a national scale, the Democrat machine would take a HUGE hit, and all of their illegals and cheating would be countered with that one act (not to mention increased freedom for those who are stuck in unions involuntarily, as I was for many years). That one act alone would be worth 4 more years of the GOP Congress flailing about and trying to be Dem-lite.

Then tell that to those hotel, restaurant and store owners in places like NC’s Outer Banks who have to look abroad for young people from places like Poland, Russia, Ukraine, etc., because they can’t lure nearly enough Americans to work and spend a summer at the beach.

US citizens would gladly take those jobs if it weren’t so financially advantageous to not work. Another great source of labor would be steering HS grads without all that much aptitude for college toward the job market instead of student loans they’ll never be able to pay off.

Listen to me for once, there are NO pure as wind driven snow candidates. If they were, they would’nt be politicians running at presidential level. Every candidate has some flaws we do not like.

We always have to chose between the very bad and the not so bad. That is reality and life.

In 2016, my “very bad” candidate is Jeb Bush.
I refuse to bash Cruz, Walker, Jindal, Pence, Rand, & Kasich. Each one has plenty of flaws but Jeb is much worse overall.

Let the primary process unfold. I will throw my modest money support behind that one candidate from above who is ahead after IA, NH & SC. If others did the same, Jeb has smaller chance of winning nomination. Christy will not run. The GOPe never fields 2 candidates. In 2008 Mitt dropped out early to clear path for McCain. In 2012 Mitt was again the lone RINO running.

So you don’t know the stories of John Connelly in 1980, Pete du Pont in 1988 or Steve Forbes in 1996?

Santorum wanted in 2012 and still wants in 2016, very badly to be elected president. He has too much ego to have acted merely as a spoiler.

I have nothing against anyone running for president. But there comes a time, when unity must prevail. That is why Romney dropped out early to clear path for McCain in 2008. The RINO’s have good unity. Conservatives have bad unity, and revel in bashing others.

Ridiculous. Sweater Vest has no more chance of being the US president than I do. Same goes for Gomer Huckleberry.

There you go again.....bashing other candidates who are not the worst of the bunch. Worst of the bunch is Jeb Bush in 2016.

People like you will enable Jeb Bush to win.

Just stick to posting good things about your candidate.
Please Stop bashing others.

I’d rather see Jeb or Hillary in there than Elmer Gantry. You can write that down.

“US citizens would gladly take those jobs if it weren’t so financially advantageous to not work.”

Therein lies a structural fault in the system in place. I would venture that Walker would be most apt to push for those changes. I don’t see anyone else out there with a better record to that end.

I’m sorry but picking the lesser of the two evils does not work. We have tried that and it does not work. All we got was compromise and/or capitulate to the extreme Left.

That tactic is why Obama is in office.

The Republican Party will either get their $hit straight or kiss their @ss goodbye. I know many people are leaving the rigid two party Republicans and Democrats party in droves. They’re sic of all the lies, deception and B.S.

Having a drunk neuterized and comprised leader like Boehner is the perfect representative of the Republican party current state.

“And the noise about his supposedly supporting citizenship for illegals was crap created by the newspaper in Wausau, WI.”

I watched the same interview and at no time did he say that he didn’t support citizenship for illegals. He hasn’t answered the pointed questions.

In the past he has said more than once he is for a “pathway to citizenship” and has mentioned getting to the “back of the line”. Amnesty can mean many things to different people. He hasn’t defined what he means by the term. You are putting words in his mouth that he never said because you wish them to be true.

As far as it being crap created by some newspaper in Wausau, I don’t read that newspaper. I formed my opinion about it through listening to Scott’s actual words.

“Point is Santorum was MORE conservative than Mitt”

***

Santorum is a religious socialist.

Mitt is a crony capitalist.

Neither is conservative. Thus, one cannot be more conservative than the other.

” Walker was only referring to qualified LEGAL immigrants.”

Was he asked what they had to do to become qualified? Go to the back of the line? He has mentioned that before? Pay a tax or fine? When asked in an interview if he could envision citizenship for those who had paid fines etc. his answer was “sure.” What does that mean to you?

Has anyone asked him what he is going to do with the millions of illegals that are already here? If so what was his answer?

As soon as Bret Baier’s interview transcript is loaded on FNC, I’ll post it. In the meantime, you can watch the vid at Bret’s section of FNC.

As much as I love and support her, Palin can not win. Period. No reason to even discuss that further.

Cruz may indeed have some trouble with the “natural born” situation. He is number one on my list of candidates. Unfortunately, many people will not vote for him due to that issue.

Walker and Perry have great governing records. Both have drawn their states toward the conservative side of the balance. As with Rand Paul, I can see a few problems with each of them... no surprise there, since the only person who I completely agree with is sitting here in this chair.

Right now, it is critical to attempt to winnow down the “conservative” side of the GOP nomination to 1-3 reasonable alternatives to fight against the GOPe guys. We must recognize that if we each decide to destroy all candidates except the single guy we have decided ourselves is “best”, the deep pocket donors and the GOPe WILL be able to choose Jeb or Christie or similar.

I for one, will welcome an endorsement by Romney for any of those mentioned in my first three paragraphs, or for Jindal, Carson, Bolton, West, Ryan, or even Rubio. Such an endorsement would not cement my support, but I would be glad that he did not lend what credibility and fund-raising support he does have to any of the top GOPe guys.

In both elections of Obama, polling samples have determined that over 5 million evangelicals stayed home. I spoke with some of them each of those years while I was door-to-door canvassing, completely failing to change their determination.

“Conservatives” spending a boatload of time destroying the candidacy of the GOP candidates are responsible for Obama’s presidency.

Pray we don’t do that yet again over the next 21 months.

No. Obama is in office because upwards of 7 million Republican voters stayed home.
