Peru has vowed to prosecute Greenpeace activists after they allegedly damaged the world-famous Nazca lines during an environmental publicity stunt. Activists from the group unfurled cloth letters spelling out a green energy slogan at the millennia-old site on Monday, adjacent to where the figure of a hummingbird is etched into the ground. Peru has said the activists damaged the ground by leaving footprints, which could last for thousands of years. Its a true slap in the face at everything Peruvians consider sacred, Luis Jaime Castillo, the deputy culture minister, said. In a statement, the Peruvian culture ministry said: "After the illegal, premeditated action by environmental defense group Greenpeace, the zone has been seriously affected.

A bunch of privilege gringos trampled on the Nazca lines so they unfurl a enviro message that can be seen from the air. The losers violated Peruvian law, one needs a special permit to access the Nazca lines on foot, and they damaged these sensitive historic landmarks. I hope the spend some time in a nasty Peruvian jail.

Let the punishment fit the crime.
Allow the indigenous people there to sacrifice them to the sun god.

Isn’t this proof that they are in fact a Terrorist Organization? Shouldn’t Congress declare them so?

I do not see any fundamental difference, only a matter of degree, between this and the Islamic fundamentalists blowing up historic sites. Both claim it is for a greater cause.

Mr Castillo said the Peruvian government was seeking to prevent those responsible from leaving the country and was asking prosecutors to file charges of attacking archaeological monuments, a crime punishable by up to six years in prison. Throw the book at them!..............

I have found out from various sources over the years, that environmentalist wackos, climate change activists, and those who think they understand our planet better than those of us raised on a farm, are just suburban or urban idiots, who can’t take care of themselves...these taxpayer grants that support these people are a form of WELFARE.
Those degrees from leftist colleges are based on politics.

When I saw that picture on the Latest Posts page I thought it was photoshopped and this would be an article from the Onion.
The stupidity on display here is astounding.

The Nazca lines look like they are painted on or something. They are not. My understanding is that the plateau is covered with a fine layer of dust because it basically never rains there and for some reason there is no wind I guess. Anyway, the figures were created by indians scraping away the dust in a strategic way. Now walk in with hiking boots and you leave more or less permanent footprints in that same dust.

Exactly. From what I understand the lines are very shallow trenches.
