The Post articles on the House Republican revolt over the border bill and and the role Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) played in making it happen have nuggets of information that show why I’ve been harping about the possibility of impeachment since June.
As the article on the revolt notes, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his allies said they had the votes to pass a border bill that not only speeded up deportations but also had a $659 million price tag, which was considerably less than the $3.7 billion President Obama asked for. And then the bill was pulled from the floor — like so many others before it.
Why, exactly a year ago yesterday Boehner pulled a spending bill from the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development due to lack of support. A little more than a month later, on Sept. 11, 2013, Boehner pulled a temporary funding bill meant to stave off a government shutdown because the rank and file were upset it didn’t defund Obamacare. On Dec. 20, 2012, Boehner pulled his fiscal cliff “Plan B” proposal because it “did not have sufficient support from our members to pass.” Oh, and there was that vote on March 15, 2011, when Republican defections forced Boehner to rely on Democrats to pass a three-week spending bill to keep the government from shutting down then.
I highlight these moments along Boehner’s legislative trail of failure — and these are just the examples I could remember — to show his inability to stand up to the far-right-wing of his calamitous caucus. As you see, his problems pre-date the arrival of Cruz in the Capitol in January. But the freshman senator from Texas has successfully exploited the leadership vacuum in the House

The freshman senator also reminded them to be skeptical of promises from House leaders, particularly of “show votes” – legislative action designed to placate conservatives that carry little, if any, weight.

You and the author of this Washington Post article are advocating for the same thing: Impeachment. That seems odd, doesn’t it?
Who knows what that Benghazi Committee might turn up.
Their supporters will continue to pretend that nothing has happened. They work very hard to cover for these guys, and they provide funding for them. Thus, they become partakers of this corruption.
Strikes me that now is the time for people like us FReepers to be building public support for impeachment while congressional pubbies keep mum. Then, if we win the Senate and chances for conviction look favorable, go for it, but not until then.

The author isn’t advocating impeachment, he’s predicting it.
Even if the Pubs get control of the Senate they would need 2/3 to convict. Let’s just say that’s extremely unlikely.
He’s actually begging for it, as are much of the media and the Democrat Party leadership. It’s practically the only hope that they have left.
I’m predicting impeachment, but led by Democrats as he wheels come off the bus.

Anyway...they are goading Boehner to clear the way for the president to do whatever he wants with impeachment being taken off the table.
And that's exactly what Boehner (and you) have done. Odd isn't it.

Not unless Ebola strikes in the Senate Democrat cloakroom. (Tho, given the Obama administration's level of incompetence at everything else they've managed, an Ebola epidemic in Washington DC has a probability of something more than 0.)
BTW, didn't the House pass the bill last night? It's going to be buried deep in the heart of Yucca Mountain by Harry Reid -- but they did pass it. Shouldn't WaPo columnists at least read the front page of their own paper? I wouldn't -- but I'm not being paid by the Washington Post.
The WP is doing what they always do....inventing stuff. The HOR finally did something responsible. They listened to what their voters want.
I think there’s probably a strategy, believe it or not.
The House can impeach Obama to its heart’s content and he’ll remain in office. Only if the GOP gets the Senate can he actually be removed from office. Remember Bill Clinton, who actually was impeached...with no effect.
So I’d say the lawsuit is a gambit. It has real potential, but probably won’t make it through the system until Obama is leaving office. However, in the meantime, it’s keeping Obama off-guard, and that’s why he’s talking about impeachment all the time.
Impeachment is an Obama fundraising tool, and only fools would fall for it. But if we get more seats in the Senate (which seems less and less likely to me, alas), then it could be a reality, and Cruz and Boehner know it.
Even 67 republican senators wouldn’t be enough because of the RINO factor.
The Democrats are smart to use impeachment as a fund raising tool.
The Republicans such as Boehner, are foolish not to.
The Democrats goad Boehner to take impeachment off the table.
Boehner foolishly takes impeachment (and just about everything else) off the table.
