I think there’s probably a strategy, believe it or not.
The House can impeach Obama to its heart’s content and he’ll remain in office. Only if the GOP gets the Senate can he actually be removed from office. Remember Bill Clinton, who actually was impeached...with no effect.
So I’d say the lawsuit is a gambit. It has real potential, but probably won’t make it through the system until Obama is leaving office. However, in the meantime, it’s keeping Obama off-guard, and that’s why he’s talking about impeachment all the time.
Impeachment is an Obama fundraising tool, and only fools would fall for it. But if we get more seats in the Senate (which seems less and less likely to me, alas), then it could be a reality, and Cruz and Boehner know it.
The Democrats are smart to use impeachment as a fund raising tool.
The Republicans such as Boehner, are foolish not to.
The Democrats goad Boehner to take impeachment off the table.
Boehner foolishly takes impeachment (and just about everything else) off the table.
