Vasectomy can increase risk of developing lethal prostate cancer

Scientists have identified a link between having a vasectomy and developing lethal forms of prostate cancer

Men who have a vasectomy face an increased chance of developing prostate cancer and a higher risk of contracting the most aggressive form of the disease, a study has found.

The Harvard research on 50,000 men, the largest study to examine the link between sterilisation and cancer, found that those who had the procedure had a 10 per cent greater chance of developing the disease.

It also found a sharp increase in the risk of contracting the most aggressive form of prostate cancer, although this type of the disease is still relatively rare.

The dangers appeared to be highest among men who had a vasectomy at a younger age, researchers said.

The chance of developing the aggressive form of the disease increased among those who had a vasectomy before the age of 38.

I always wondered what happens to sperm. It is still produced but not evacuated. That can’t be good. A bunch of energetic critters full of genetic material running wild, then dying off. Can’t be good for the immune system.

That’s what i always wondered. So i never got one. That and pretty little nurses holding sharp knives aimed at Da Boyz! Shiver me top mast!

My dad’s child rearing days were way past when vases became common.

He got prostate cancer at age 87 and just got the hormone treatments to retard the growth of the cancer. Died at 91 from other causes.

I got my cancer at age 65.

Best wishes!

The vindication of Doug Baldwin.

Mr. Baldwin was my high school biology and chemistry teacher, back in the 1970s. He always said no good could come from letting folks take sharp objects to your... manly assets.
