Amanda Kijera was on a humanitarian trip to Haiti, when she was violently raped by a black man. The act was both coincidental and devastating, as Kijera was actually in Haiti to dispel the myths that violence against women on the island was overstated by womens rights organizations.
The intention of Kijeras trip was to push back on the portrayal of black men as savages in the media. Her hope was that she would eliminate misconceptions and push back against common views imposed by the man.
However, Kijeras trip took a turn for the worse when one of the men she had worked to protect cornered her on the rooftop, and raped her numerous times.
The experience was almost more than I could bear, Kijera wrote about the incident, I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didnt care.
According to Kijera, she eventually stopped fighting him, claiming that there was nothing she could do to stop him from raping her repeatedly. After the tragic experience, she placed the blame on a very unexpected course.
Women are not the source of their oppression; oppressive policies and the as-yet unaddressed white patriarchy which still dominates the global stage are, she explained. She also went on to argue that it is up to the United Nations to support people who are forced to bear the brunt of black male aggression.
Kijera makes the outrageous claim that dependency on white people causes them to act out against them. She alludes that this was the reason for her attack.
While the circumstances Kijera were forced to endure were unacceptable, her commits make the unspoken conclusion that the incident would not have happened if it werent for white men.
What do you think of Kijeras statements?
It hurt. The experience was almost more than I could bear. I begged him to stop. Afraid he would kill me, I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didnt care that I was a Malcolm X scholar. He told me to shut up, and then slapped me in the face. Overpowered, I gave up fighting halfway through the night.
oh yeah, stooopid SHOULD hurt
“The naivete of liberals is staggering and unassailable. The real problem in being a liberal is those annoying confrontations with reality.”
You’re dealing with two year olds in adult bodies.
Was this her work uniform: http://mulherescontraofeminismo.wordpress.com/page/7/
My B.S. detector is on overload. Doesn’t this story seem like a hoax to anyone else?
In other words, she was uneducated.
Oh!
Is there a “fence” between Haiti and the Dominican Republic? gee....What an idea.
How could they afford that?
Kijera makes the outrageous claim that dependency on white people causes them to act out against them. She alludes that this was the reason for her attack
So what I hear her saying is that government run welfare programs funded by mostly white taxpayers should be ended? Deal!
“Yes, this was in the news April 2010. She was an idiot then, and shes still an idiot now!”
Given what happened, I’d call that type of stupidity “unfixable”.
I pleaded [sic] with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didnt care.
At first glance, this reads like satire, at second glance, badly written fiction, at third glance, like the fabricated statement a Soviet Komradess would be quoted in Pravda, at fourth glance, complete nonsense fabricated by the victim herself.
“Kijera makes the outrageous claim that dependency on white people causes them to act out against them”
Time to END dependency on white people! No more free stuff!
Seriously?
You know what...that is utter Bravo Sierra.
I do not agree with her ideology...and I think she was a foolish woman, and has a mind full of mush in terms of her politics. But what you are implying and saying is utter garbage and beneath the dignity of this forum IMHO.
Are you married? Imagine if it was your wife.
Do you have daughters? I have three. They are all grown now and in their 30s. Imagine if it were one of your daughters, regardless of how foolish they may have been.
No...I will not for an instant countenance that she somehow "enjoyed," being brutally raped by the criminal who did it.
Politics and ideology like hers are important issues we must stand against...and should. But to imply such a thing as this, IMHO, leans dangerously over into becoming the very thing we fight.
What is a Haitian Shouter?
A liberal activist can by definition not be raped.
Since all sex is by definition good, the sex she had is a good thing, a stellar event in her sexual history.
Since there is a wish, no make that demand, for diversity, the race of her pardner is of no import. Having sex is all that is important and transcenda all other thought on the matter
The event was not rape, but merely unplanned sex
The border is a river and it’s militarized on the Dominican side. The land is stripped bare, eroded, trashed and ugly on the Haitian side, people in Haiti come down to the river en masse for various reasons, wash clothes or kids playing in water filled with sewage. At times many try to cross over, some succeed. They’re typically sent back. It’s not a wall per se in Dominican, more like staggered police barriers.
At base, a variety of Baptist, but it extends into teaching of business skills so shouter areas tend to be a little more functional and orderly compared to the Voudoun rest of the country. Voudoun (voodoo people) hate Shouters. Haiti was nominally Catholic until their revolution in the late 18th century, at which point whites were mostly slaughtered, those who weren’t were driven out. They cut all ties with the Roman Catholic Church while maintaining the church organizational structure, which became increasingly syncretistic containing animistic “gods” in the guise of saints. Voodoo.
the DR/other half of the island is light years ahead of haiti, ever look at a space image of the island? you can see the border because it's where the trees pretty much STOP! and the west end of the island used to be/should be a rain forest
But each black individual has free will, and can use reason and their own true interests, and rationally choose to reject emotionally based and socially based motives, and choose not to act out. If they do act out, it is their own fault.
