We are now a fragile society. Once, we were anti-fragile, as shown in Nassim Taleb's excellent book "Anti-fragile".
But if you are afraid to offend anyone, if you refuse to punish anyone, if you won't hold anyone accountable, and if you simply do not believe in personal responsibility, then you are doomed to a fragile existence.
Get rid of the Democrat Party, and you’ll be surprised at how fast things shape up.
I took a graduate level course many years ago, ‘The American Presidency, and got an ‘A’, and recall a political science axiom. Believe it was (or very close to): ‘The strength of the presidency reflects the state of the country.’
Even Barry’s staunch supporters must admit among themselves that his presidency is tanking and unfortunately, we’re along for the ride. Two more years ... maybe a Republican can start to straighten out this huge mess he’s going to leave behind.
(But no ‘Republican from the conservative wing of the Democratic party’!)
in 1913 democrat president woodrow wilson and his democrat congress passed the
1.1913: 16th ammendment( the income tax)
2. 1913: the 17th ammendment (before this the USA was a free Republic )
3. the federal reserve act
4. in the 1930’s then democrat FDR and his socialist revolution w/ hundreds of socialist acts passed
5. 40 years of democrat congresses,
6.the democrats’ 1965 immigration act changed immigration to come from the 3rd world
7,.Obama and HIS democrat congress passed Obama care and here we are an inch away from full socialism
but most people even on here say everything is Bush's fault or now the Republicans’ fault
The American education system is NOT lagging- It is busted into a jillion pieces, by the NEA, by female teachers, union teachers, and by Marxist takeover of the school system from pre-K through university level, since 1980 or before. We are DOOMED!
If Americans received an education in the past it was because **parents** were doing a terrific job of **afterschooling**! It's taken several generations but the progressives have finally managed to severely damage the family structure that produced all that educational success.
The American system of modern schooling started out in the mid-1800s to early 1900s as a **compulsory-use**, compulsory-funded, police-enforced, and single-payer socialist-entitlement. Nothing good can come from that.
Single-payer government schooling was a progressive idea of the 19th century. Progressives have **always** controlled teacher training and curriculum development. Progressives have always pushed for greater and greater secularization until now they are utterly godless! Progressives have always pushed at the edges of society's morals and ethics. Today, nearly every teacher in the nation ( both private and government) was trained by godless Marxists in Marxist-run colleges and universities.
Anyone who think single-payer and socialist-entitlement schooling can be fixed is a fool! The very foundation upon which it is built is rotten!
As long as the incompetent are making more children than the competent, decline is inevitable.
Of course he did. It's the sacred site of a Muslim victory.
“Americans overwhelmingly agree that our educational system, once the envy of the world, is now lagging.”
If I remember correctly, and I believe I do, until Pres. Jimmeh Cahtuh rewarded the Nat’l Education (??) Assoc. with its very own cabinet department, it was generally known and supported that the federal government had no authority (Remember that Constitution??) to meddle in or control general elementary/secondary education.
Now the feds determine what our children are to learn and how it is to be taught, what they can eat (thus far limited to what they eat in school), etc., etc., etc.,
And the consequences, sadly, are clearly evident.
From what I understand, it’s not even called the 9/11 Memorial.
It’s the “Museum of Struggles Against Oppression” or some nonsense.
Revolt is coming.
Poppy Cock. Big Bunch of B.S. May be true for a bunch of sissies in San Francisco or some other liberal bastion, but we bitter clingers are just as fiesty as ever.
QUOTE: “The problem: Too many students are failing the tougher tests, making teachers look bad, parents unhappyand politicians nervous.”
=> They’re not tougher tests they’re stupid’er tests.
One of the primary things that's stifling the US is that we've lost free speech. When that's gone, a society loses its humor and its ability to cope with things.
Spirit broken my a$$. I haven’t even broke a swest fighting.. Only girly men, liberals (one and the same) call uncle. Obama has one objective and that is to break our spirit so he can rebuild America. Everything he has done can be undone with a phone and a pen.
bkmk

Lagging as a snail would lag in a race against a Cheetah...or even a turtle. I have said it many times, today’s university graduates who major in history wouldn’t stand a chance of passing my eighth grade history final. Some people say that that sort of classical education is not needed but why then do we have people spending years and much borrowed money to obtain a degree in a subject and still know nothing about it? I used to be told that a degree in history was useless unless you intended to teach history, is that what is happening, people who know nothing about it teaching others to know nothing about it?
An honest high school education would be far more beneficial than a phony degree signifying nothing.
