President Barack Obama today tried to raise his supporters long-standing opposition to jury-directed death-penalties by suggesting to a German reporter today that Americans jurors and judges may be biased against African-American murderers.
What happened in Oklahoma was deeply troubling, said Obama, referring to a recent execution of an African-American man in Oklahoma.
The comments came two years after Obama used a Rose Garden appearance to focus African-Americans attention on a dispute over the killing of a young black man Trayvon Martin by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida. If I had a son, hed look like Trayvon, Obama said in March 2012, months before the November election.
A Pew report in March showed that only 36 percent of African-Americans and 40 percent Latinos support the death penalty. In contrast, roughly 63 percent of whites support the death penalty.
In Oklahoma, the condemned man did not die quickly because his vein collapsed, hindering passage of the first of three execution drugs. Fifteen years ago, the man had kidnapped four people. He eventually executed one of them an 18 year-old teenager after she watched her grave being dug for 20 minutes. The murderer was condemned after testimony from multiple witnesses.
Instead of sidestepping a foreign reporters question about a state-level issue in Oklahoma, Obama choose to expand the Oklahoma case into a veiled attack on the death penalty.
We have seen significant problems racial bias, uneven application of the death penalty..."(continued)

Dude, this is, like, two years old.
I am so over listening to this jerk comment on anything. He is a complete fraud, race baiter and imbicile. Whenever he goes anywhere by AF1, I always pray the pilot does the honorable thing.
Good one!
I have seen at least one study that whites are more likely to get the death penalty.
Dude was give the death penalty by a jury. Death penalty applied to dude. Dude now dead. End of story.
If I had a son, hed look like Clayton Lockett”
Obama, April 2014
Everything is about race for the great divider.
Hey, it’s worked every time they’ve tried it before, why not continue?
The guy laughed and buried his victim alive. I don't care what color the perp is I'm voting the death penalty. Too bad Obama is more of a racist than me.
100% of murderers are against the death penalty. Obama has blood on his hands already, he should remain silent on the issue...
Benghazi much.
It appears the death penalty is on a path to be ended by shifting demographics.
Lousy SOB.......
What a racist SOB he is.
If only Americans were told how left wing and different from them this man is. What a vile disgrace.
Income equality for murderers I guess.
Well damn it let’s stop the demographic shift it’s a racist plot anyway. The left has no right to import the new class of citizens they want.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Obastard reached out to offer sympathy to the family of the scum that died instead of to Stephanie Neiman's family. Thats just the type of low-life thing that our low-life imposter in cheif would do.
Where was this sentiment from obama when Bob & Nancy Strait were brutally murdered by tyrone woodfork?
Google the names if you are not familiar with the horror that occured in Oklahoma at the hands of this monster (woodfork). Not surprisingly; there was barely a mention in the US media.
Truthfully, states should immediately enact laws that authorize the use of the firing squad if there is *any* problem, or even legal challenge, with their preferred means of execution.
As part of the law, make it clear that neither the jury nor the judge determines the *means* of execution, just that execution should or should not take place.
A firing squad is cheap, easy to set up, and is established as a means of execution.
