Truthfully, states should immediately enact laws that authorize the use of the firing squad if there is *any* problem, or even legal challenge, with their preferred means of execution.
As part of the law, make it clear that neither the jury nor the judge determines the *means* of execution, just that execution should or should not take place.
A firing squad is cheap, easy to set up, and is established as a means of execution.
Just don’t rely on Wal-Mart for the ammunition.
I think it’d be fitting to also give the victims’ family members the option of volunteering for the firing squad.
