When it comes to discovering elements the United Kingdom is at the top of the table.
This periodic table graphic was posted by Google Science Fair on Sunday and shows which nations discovered each element on the periodic table.
Leading the charge, the UK has discovered 24 elements, closely followed by the US with 21, Sweden with 20 and Germany with 19.
A number of old favorites including gold, mercury and copper are listed as “ancient discovery” and don’t have a country of origin.

There was another genius scifi story about an Earth ship that is being forcibly boarded by bad aliens. For some reason they have to conceal the identity of their captain so they pretend that the ship cat is the captain. And the cat, strolling contemptuously around and licking its butt when anyone talks to it, utterly persuades the aliens that it is in charge. Very funny. Do you know that one? I’ve been trying to find that one, too.
Gosh, we whites are nasty folk. We stormed in and stole all those inventions! Makes one wonder how we managed it, though. I mean, if they’re superior, and we’re inferior, how did we manage to come in, steal everything, claim it as our own, and kick the superior people back to the Stone Age?

What is REALLY SAD is how the UK was so cutting edge, that is until they embraced Socialism. Now they’re watching their country crumble.

Correct. That first organization of the Periodic Table showed gaps which allowed scientists to accurately predict which elements would be discovered in the future, as well as their properties.
Unlike “climate science” whose models fail to predict the future each year, the Period Table model accurately and repeatedly predicted future discoveries.

Yes, Marie Curie, but perhaps there are one or two more? I don’t know. My point being, where would the world be without men and the whole of Western Civilization?
More women discoverers of elements? Probably ... as part of a team. Most of the really high (and really unstable) transuranics are discovered/synthesized by big teams of scientists at accelerator labs. I can't believe that the teams are all men.

One thing I failed to point out is that the discoveries of the African nations were left-out.

Critical but VERY unstable! It’s been know to even have explosive properties.
