2010: Admiral: President Obama Gave Us Choice to Accept Gays in Military or Resign
Breitbart's Big Peace ^ | April 1, 2014 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 04/03/2014 12:20:40 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp said that in 2010 Obama told U.S. military leaders to accept his push for gays in the military, and that if they didn't, they could take the "opportunity to resign [their] commissions."

Papp said these things in a video BuzzFeed obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The video shows a speech Papp delivered to Coast Guard Academy cadets during which he was asked how he would deal with enforcing an order with which he didn't agree. He used the story of his 2010 meeting with Obama as an example of how service members' duties can be compelling and conflicting with personal desires....

The graphic wasn’t directed to call you a traitor Snake Eater.

It is referring to the weak leaders at the top who would sell out their country to keep power or paycheck. Our guys at the top caved under immoral compromise. If they had been around during our nation’s founding, the temptation to turn to the British side would have been overwhelmingly tempting. Stand with the king and keep your land...

Strong uncompromising leadership presents a healthy fear which contributes to respect. Our nation is sowing its own moral destruction and it is heartrending to witness.

Thank you for your service. You are entitled to your opinion. But I disagree with it in regards to the compromised leadership at the top ranks who are contributing to the demise of the world’s finest military.

No disputing that. You’d have had quite a unit if the sodomites were out-fornicating the heterosexuals. I don’t agree with the sexual element being on the combat team period, deviant or otherwise. This is the “Army we have” because the boys from the Rumsfeld family, the Romney family, the Burr family, etc. are too good to serve in uniform. Sadly we have gender integration, 1/3 of army enlisted females being unwed mothers, etc.

That isn't very effective in a big war is it, in a blood filled environment, a periodic test revealing that carriers have only been passing it around for months, instead of for years.

I agree. Flag officers' and senior leaders' resignations wouldn't change this.

Homosexuality is weakening the military, what you don't see, is the accumulating effect of men not wanting to enlist, and not wanting to continue to serve in a gay/feminized military.

We older guys watch as the body blows come, one after the other, and we can see that they are slowly cutting off chunk after chunk of the meat, from America's ability to maintain a warrior class.

If I'm being completely honest, you older guys have a bit of a romanticized vision of the military. I've been in since before the GWOT and all the only real culture change I've seen is when we shifted from being a garrison military to a combat-focused military, and now we're going back to being a garrison military. That's a culture change nobody wants to see except for some real anal CSMs.

I have no doubt the policy change will have some effect on recruiting/retention, but also remember that we're kicking people out left and right as we've been directed to draw down. From that perspective, it's basically a good thing (though it will suck when it comes time to go to war again, but this is hardly a new challenge).

Added this to the second amendment list and Banglist. Similar tactics could be used to force officers to go along with gun control.

"not wanting to continue to serve in a gay/feminized military"

I agree. While people are blaming the brass, the problem here is mostly cultural (that would be modern American culture) and the civilian leadership who issues these ridiculous orders via blackmail. Changing out the commanding general of a MACOM won’t have any effect on that. Changing out the president and congressional leaders absolutely will.

“If I’m being completely honest, you older guys have a bit of a romanticized vision of the military. “

If by Romantic you mean “effective” then perhaps. Tell me why today’s military brass knows better about gays in the military than the man who first commanded it against the British.

Tell me how gays infecting the blood supply on a battlefield or a civilian hospital is not bad for either. Tell me who has enough integrity left to call it what it is in the military. Tell me why many good men and women have left. I know two MSgts that walked after long careers and their exemplary records no longer help mold young soldiers.

Tell me how that is not a bad thing that is a direct result of, not hate for gays, but lack of respect of a once functional system turned feelgood social experiment..

I think you have your answer.

They will "follow orders", just like the guys we hung after World War II.

America, the Great Hypocrite & Police State.

"...I’d have thought it was obvious..."

Well, the other side did their psyops work very well over the decades, brother.

They read us perfectly, and manipulated everything possible to achieve what we have and where we are.

When you devote entire university departments and curricula to undermining a society and don't give up, it works.

Likewise, when you are willing to fight back and defend your society - and do whatever is necessary to purge the subversive elements that are undermining it, you will keep it.

They undermined not only the majority's willingness to fight back, but the ability to even understand exactly what is going on.

Not saying they've won - they haven't - but they played it pretty damned and insidiously well.

I must admit that I am glad you are not OK with our Fag-friendly policies of our military. I also can see that by not resigning one could work against the leftist scum infiltrating our once great fighting forces. I am good with that if that is the case.

Completely agree. There is one hell of a case of category error underway on the right. For exactly the reasons toy described.

I am afraid you are right. However, we are a rebellious lot by nature, which might “straighten” things out in the end.

No, we know things that you don’t know, we do not have a false memory of a military that you don’t know but think that you know better than us.

You also seem to be too young to remember a time when senior officers would resign out of honor and to make a public statement.

Frankly, you sound like the kind of modern American that fits in just fine with the current situation.

Even when I was in boy scouts, we had two overtly feminine boys - who I did learn later on turned out to be gay when they grew up - and it was like pulling teeth to get them to do anything. “Go out and get wood for the fire” and they wouldn’t do it, they would get ticked off. I remember one of them almost got the whole troop sick because he filled the drinking water jug with lake water. Why? Because he was ticked off that it was his turn to go to the spring and just by chance one of the Scout masters saw him filling the container with lake water. So I see something like the Bradley Manning case, I know EXACTLY what the hell went on that guy. He went into a gay snit. I dealt with that crap for 30 years “bitch snits” they call them. They’re freakin’ drama queens. Women don’t act like that nor do lesbians, only gay men. Not ALL gay men, but enough where they should NOT be allowed in the military.

Reminicent of the Stalin officer purges of the late ‘30s. Some of the most talented officers in the Soviet Army were killed. It so weakened the Soviet Army that it was almost unable to stop the German Army in 1941.

I responded, noting your disdain for libertarians is universal despite the topic.

It was on topic - noting your behavior here, is identical to other instances where we have crossed paths...nothing more -

I think you're reading a bit too much into it.

But at this point - I can pretty much surmise we'll see a post about Ft Hood (or something else) in which Libertarians are circuitously dragged into it, just to puff up your "brand"
