Police say a body found inside a vehicle at a foreclosed home in metro Detroit might have been rotting there for several years.
A womans body in a mummified state was discovered in the back seat of a Jeep Liberty, parked in the attached garage of a home in the 1600 block of Savanna, near Walton Boulevard and Silver Lake Road in Pontiac, according to police.
A contractor made the discovery just after 6 p.m. Wednesday while working at the home, which is going through foreclosure.
Police said the license plate on the womans vehicle expired in 2008, which could very well be the last time she was seen alive.

Auto social security check
I wonder if the ignition was on and the fuel tank empty. Suicide?
Yes and no......subsequent local reports are that she was in her late 40's and an employee of an auto company.........
My purely speculative guess is that she went into the garage, started the car, made herself comfortable in the back seat and committed suicide via carbon monoxide.........That's what I would do if I wanted to end my life.
That could very well be determined if the cops inspected the gas tank of the vehicle and found it to be empty.....Although that would not be a definitive cause since the car sat idle for 5 years.........
And that's my 2 cents worth.......
No one wants to take possession of a foreclosure in Detroit, that’s the buried lead.
Thanks cc and dynachrome.
Yeah, I saw that in article after I posted. I agree about the suicide idea. That’s what I told my wife.
Guess she could have had enough money in her account to pay the electric bills for 6 years.
But why didn’t any one from work report her missing?
Modern cars produce very little CO. It's a really unreliable way to kill yourself.
Much more effective to run a lawnmower in the garage.
To who? There's been no family members that have reported her missing.............
As a side note, I worked in HR for my manufacturing plant in Detroit and can recall many employees who just stopped coming to work........We terminated them and just moved on and replaced them.
As a side note, I distinctly remember a black management trainee back in the late 70's who was from someplace in S. Africa and had tribal scars on both his cheeks.......One day he was at work and the next he was gone, never to be heard from again. While I can't prove it, I suspected he was called home to Africa to deal with whatever problems were occuring in his home town.......
Any car, modern or not, will kill you if you sit in your garage with the engine running long enough.....I lost an uncle via that method.
You forgot that already cast absentee ballot for 14.
6 years??? I wonder why no one looked for a missing person.
That was my thought as well.
I stand reminded.
Perhaps she lost her job; that might support the suicide theory.
What about her mail? Were they just throwing it in a slot in the door? 6 years is a lot of junk mail.
I don't know, you tell me.........
I guess her employer thought she just quit? Perhaps they had let her go and she then committed suicide. Shame.
Who the hell kept the electricity going? And isn’t odd that the home goes into foreclosure but nobody checked it out for six years until they send a contractor in? Also lovely neighbors huh? Okay so she would be gone for weeks at a time but six years didn’t seem odd and assumed she moved though no one ever saw a moving van? God save me from neighbors like this.
“...does it take 6 years to foreclose in the Detroit area?”
It certainly does in NJ.
Besides with some of these properties nearly worthless the banks are in no hurry to take active control of them.
Creepy story, I feel bad for the dead woman and very bad for the guy who found her.
