Orang County, CA has had mental Heath exams and treatment for Special Ed students for at least 25 years. Some students actually are actually observed at school on a monthly basis by social workers and county mental health workers. They also offer counseling to parents and family members to help in coping with difficult students. It’s a good program, but it should be extended to include all students.

"By psychopolitics our chief goals are effectively carried forward. To produce a maximum of chaos in the culture of the enemy is our first most important step. Our fruits are grown in chaos, distrust, economic depression and scientific turmoil.... With it you can erase our enemies as insects... Use the courts, use the judges, use the Constitution of the country, use its medical societies and its laws to further our ends.... create chaos. Leave a nation leaderless. Kill our enemies. And bring to Earth, through Communism, the greatest peace Man has ever known...." -- Lavrentii Beria, Lenin University, in a 1933 address to a group of American/Marxist Psychology Students.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
This one is so bad, that it deserves to have both lists pinged.
Homeschoolers need to know what they're missing out on. IOW, what they're protecting their children from.

This whole idea of a state entity forcing children to undergo psychiatric examinations with or without their or their parents' consent carries with it the great possibility of abuse on the part the state. School children who express ideas or disclose facts that run counter to the politically correct, statist "norms," as well as their parents, can be labeled abnormal and subjected to a wide variety of sanctions - starting with re-education programs - from the government, which can negatively affect their lives. (On the other hand, children who disclose, for example some tendencies that are encouraged by the state, e.g., homosexuality, could be rewarded.)
The idea of mandatory psychiatric examinations for schoolchildren, or something similar to it, is and was routine in totalitarian regimes like the USSR, and was used as a tool to detect dissidents and dissident families, who would suffer nightmarish consequences.

Oh how easy this is for them. Mental Health Exams for kids to attend school...and if they ain’t quite right in the head according to the government?
Wow...the ramifications of our kids losing their protected Rights is incredible!
Suddenly there’s a whole generation of kids with mental health issues/records that follow them into adulthood. Too disturbed to vote, own a gun, have free speech, ....WOW!
