One of the most overlooked aspects of the year just ended is the vindication of Chief Justice John Roberts -- a vindication that showed up as the national catastrophe known as ObamaCare got rolling. Roberts may have also doomed Hillary Clinton's chance to live in the White House again.
The chief justice, an appointee of President George W. Bush and reputedly a constitutionalist in his jurisprudence, set his diabolical trap (diabolical to Democrats) on June 28, 2012, when he joined with the four liberal justices on the Supreme Court to uphold the constitutionality of ObamaCare. Conservatives and Republicans across the land were apoplectic. But in hindsight, it appears that Roberts actually saved the Republican Party from going into a death spiral and imperiled the Democrats instead. This suggests amazing foresight, but it wouldn't be the only instance.
For example, Tevi Troy, a scholar at the Hudson Institute, made a remarkable prophecy a year and a half before the Court's decision. It was soon after the November 2010 midterm elections, in which Democrats in Congress and in state legislatures suffered huge losses. In an article in Commentary magazine, Troy wrote:
The Pyrrhic victory Democrats secured for themselves [when President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law] may prove not to have been a victory at all but rather an ever-roiling, ongoing, and recurring act of political and ideological self-destruction.
How's that for prescience?
When the Supreme Court ruling came down, a shocked conservative historian, Paul Rahe, cited as a cause the PR pressure that President Barack Obama had been exerting on the Court in the fevered weeks leading up to the decision. It was "an act of judicial cowardice," he fumed. But then he added, "There is, I am confident, more to it than this."

Was that Rush who claimed that?
Considering that Obamacare was setup so 95% of it didn't go into effect until FY14 =October 1, 2013 and then January 1, 2014 that was very unlikely.
Roberts didn't pick Romney as the candidate. Some Republicans did that.
I recall a few Maryland Republicans trying to explain to me why Romney would be an effective opponent to Obama in 2012, even with Romneycare.
So O.J. Simpson will be remembered as a innocent victim of racism that was horribly framed for the murder of his beloved wife by the racist cop Mark Fuhrman, right?
Well put.
There are folks who believe that the Japanese welcomed Hiroshima so that the U.S. would thereafter provide them with a free national defense.
The human mind is capable of some amazing feats, including defeats.
Its like they all got the same memo.
They keep saying Obamacare is its own popular mandate, that people want it, its in high demand, they are lining up for it, that the people who got it love it.
“So O.J. Simpson will be remembered as a innocent victim of racism that was horribly framed for the murder of his beloved wife by the racist cop Mark Fuhrman, right?”
If he hadn’t gone on to commit armed robbery, he might have been seen that way by the portion of the populace that is inclined to believe that. As for Roberts, assuming he isn’t caught in bed with a dead girl, the powers that be will do their best to salvage his reputation and legacy. Heck, this article is an example of the sort of revisionist thinking that goes on.
Ran across this just now, thought you’d like to know if you don’t already. Cheers!
poison to be taken willingly must have a nice flavor. The vermin pirate Roberts called the obamacare law a taxation process but it is absolutely not a taxation process, it is a dictate to force what we presumed were free people to purchase a commodity. Compounding lies to try and dress up the filthy pig will, sadly, fool too many of what were once free people, sovereigns of a Constitutional Republic that no longer exists.
The job of the Chief Justice is not to play politics. The job of the Chief Justice is to simply say, “the government can’t make a private citizen buy anything. Unconstitutional. Next.”
If what you say is true, then all is lost and we’re no longer free. But here we are, posting freely and openly on a conservative website. The First and Second Amendments, though battered and under continued assault, still stand. It is those more than any others, that define and defend our liberty.
We The People are no longer the sovereigns of a Constitutional Republic. The illusion is maintained so that We The People do not awaken to the reality that we have allowed ourselves to be usurped. The rulers of America have by-passed our Constitution, and Roberts is only one of the most recent to commit the treachery.
Sadly I have to agree with your post. Though I do believe there’s allot of “threats” going on behind the scenes which are moving men and woman to do and say what they might otherwise not were that not so.
We are barely in the game anymore...it’s being played on an entirely other level, time, and place then Washington alone....or for that matter the USA.

LOL, I had no idea that these existed - thanks for pointing them out!
I noticed that there is no attribution to Talisker. I guess I'm going to have to notify whoever these people are that they got it from me.
Remember, folks - Freeper Talisker wrote this - you read it here first!
Roberts was/is being BLACKMAILED......PERIOD.
Blackmail is the ONLY answer here since Roberts IS SMART.
bkmk
Bush appointed him, BUT the democrips approved him easily, meaning someone had done the necessary background checks to have the material for shaping his actions. I do not for a second believe the Dick Cheney/ Georgie Bush administration was unaware of the potentials. Something really stinks, really really stinks.
Thanks for that info,Liz.
.
It would be far better to say that the Court's foremost job is to see that the Constitution is upheld, just as it should be for every other branch.
Ran across this today. It’s a very interesting site.

Christopher J. Conover, the Editor of the website, appears to be a solid conservative, and is quite impressive in his own right.
