Bulb Ban: As of Wednesday, the manufacture and import of 60- and 40-watt incandescent light bulbs will be illegal one more setback in the fight against government interference into the daily lives of the American people.
First they came for our light bulbs. Before the onset of ObamaCare and its mandate to buy health insurance as a condition of citizenship, there was the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA), one of the first things Democrats took up on retaking the House of Representatives in the 2006 elections.
A well-intentioned President George W. Bush signed the incandescent bulb ban in 2007. After all, Edison bulbs were old technology and a little energy efficiency couldn't hurt.

This was done by the BRILLIANT, EXEMPT, WHORING,
TREASONOUS, antiCONSTITUTIONAL US Congress
because they are soooo smart and better than all the rest.
And signed into law by Republican Preisident George "Dubya" Bush.
It's not just the ultra-left democrat crazies who who are responsible for turning the Land Of The Free into an oppressive, Big Government, nit-picky Nanny State.
Yes he did sign it but the Dem had just taken control of both the house and senate. I also recall it being said that this was added into a bill that the president really wanted.
Can’t get the three way bulbs for my reading light anymore, so now instead of one 60 watt I use two 40 watt and I still can’t get the same light quality as before. Sort of like having to flush twice or three times after they banned the one flush high flow toilets.
I wonder if the gestapo police in Connecticut will confiscate incandescent light bulbs when they raid houses to seize non-registered guns.
Thank you George W. Bush . you creepy little ( fill in the blank)
This predilection, on the part of government “experts”, to decide they know best for everyone and to force everyone to go along, has had far more significant consequences than lighting.
Are you overweight? Have high blood pressure? Diabetes? Atherosclerosis?
Have you tried to bring your weight under control by eating the recommended low-fat, low-calorie, high-carb diet, combined with endless hours of moderate intensity cardio exercise? And had it not work?
Did you ever wonder why it was that the obesity epidemic started immediately after the government first published its nutritional guidelines recommending low-fat diets?
Did you know that there was zero actual evidence that low-fat diets would reduce the risk of heart disease - and that there still isn’t?
Those who have died, because they followed the governments misguided nutritional advice number in the tens of millions. The number who are sick, because they are currently following that advice? Estimates are 30-40% of the adult population.
We don’t need to get our lightbulbs back - we need to get the government out of the business of telling people how to live their lives. And to accomplish that, we need to cure a large part of the population of their perverse need to have someone else tell them how their lives should be run.
As to how to do that, I’m open to suggestions...
Does anyone else have a liberal in their lives that is in denial over the light bulb ban?
I have one and find it absolutely dumbfounding.
Who’s gonna need light bulbs anymore anyway, with this admin’s new EPA regs are coming online after the new year that will shut down all the power plants anyway? /sarc
(Haven’t bought anything from above link - but there are still options, more expensive... but options.)
Can still by the Halogen Incandescent bulbs - well, until 2020 when the ‘new & improved’ decreased energy usage kicks in.
Follow the money trail and you will always discover the real reasons for the
new regulations.
Get rough service bulbs. Same damn thing, legal and available.
This will surely solve Global Warming.
Pray America is Waking
Nothing helps the bottom line like government interference into manufacturing efficiencies.
> Does anyone else have a liberal in their lives that is in denial over the light bulb ban?
I have a liberal minded wife I constantly have to educate about the true intentions of greedy, power hungry men known as politicians. She doesn’t like it when I do it but I can tell she gets it after I spell it out. Liberals have a form of tunnel vision and tend to believe that politicians mean what they say and don’t seem to understand that they know how to game and manipulate the “system”. I find them a little gullible and naieve really.
The rough service bulbs arent being phased out at least
at this time. So they
will be available if you choose to pay the price.

They do make 3-way flourescents...........
At 10 cents a k-hr the payback on a 30 bulb operating at 18Watts is how long? Assuming the light is used 8 hours per day? Somebody do the math.
