Yes he did sign it but the Dem had just taken control of both the house and senate. I also recall it being said that this was added into a bill that the president really wanted.

Personal freedoms should not be traded away. Bush and most of the GOP just don't seem to get that.

A reason can always be found to justify the sacrifice of bedrock ethics for an immediate short term objective.

The hard thing and the right thing is to remember which is fundamentally the most important and which is most in keeping with an oath to protect the constitution.

Like constantly dripping water eventually erodes rock, these small affronts to the constitution have added up over the years until the protections and guarantees of the constitution are eroded to the point the nation has been transformed into something bearing little resemblance to that intended by the Founders.
