New York federal judge rules NSA phone surveillance is legal

A federal judge in New York has ruled that the National Security Agency's massive collection of American citizens' telephone records is both legal and useful.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley wrote in his opinion issued Friday that the program "represents the government's counter-punch" to eliminate al-Qaeda's terror network.

Pauley raised the specter of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and how the phone data-collection system could have helped investigators connect the dots before the attacks occurred.

Pauley's decision appears to conflict with a ruling earlier this month by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon, who granted a preliminary injunction against the collecting of phone records of two men who had challenged the program.

He said that the program likely violates the U.S. Constitution's ban on unreasonable search.

It is physically impossible to monitor every phone call. Even if the people could be found to do it, they would die of boredom, listening to what most people say on the phone. There has to be a flag that a conversation waves to attract attention, words like “meth” or “bomb,” I suppose. The rest is just stored.

Domestic spying - brought to you by the same entity that utilizes the IRS and other agencies to stifle dissenting opinion.

Yeah, great idea all right.

Exactly. But this argument would be lost on most judges. They seem to operate in some non-rational universe where they can always find a “precedent” or a “penumbra” to coincide with what they personally “feel” is right. Or to correspond with how they have been bribed to rule.

I;ve never seen a family like this.
Come down here, pretend he;s injured, asks around for a side cash job but doesn’t want it too hard he told a neighbor.
When you stop at the stop sign which is no more than 15 feet away from the house they rent they run inside and if they see you look at the house they call the cops saying they are being racially harassed.
It must be some life, never work, claim all sorts of welfare, get their freebies off people who feel fall for the lies while others bust their ass, get up early and support millions of these people.
