DEVELOPING: The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to block controversial Texas abortion restrictions that have been called some of the strictest in the country.
The court by a 5-4 vote denied a request by Planned Parenthood to block a ruling by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which allows key parts of the Texas abortion law to stay in effect while the case plays out.

Who voted what ?
Praying they're forced to shut down, for good!
Abortion Barbie is on suicide alert and threatening to jump off the roof of the Malibu playhouse....
Thanks be to God!
Texas is requiring abortionists, performing an invasive medical procedure, follow the same rules as any other doctor performing an invasive medical procedure. They are also preventing women from killing developed babies in their wombs. In the state of Texas there is nothing controversial about either of these policies.
But is she wearing her tennis shoes and diaper?
Wonderful news but upsetting to realize we’re only one supreme away from critical decisions like this going the other way.
We win one! Woohoo!
I guess presidential elections are important. When Ginsberg retires within three years
..
Short version: Roberts and Kennedy voted to deny a stay, but didn't write any opinion. Scalia, Thomas and Alito also voted to deny a stay (creating the 5-4 majority), and joined in an opinion written by Scalia (which basically says that a lower court's decision shouldn't be stayed unless it is clearly and obviously wrong). Breyer wrote a dissenting opinion, which was joined by Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan.
Gee what were the Las Vegas odds on another 5-4 decision?
Even though I agree with the court’s decision, they continue to prove my point that they are nothing but 9 political hacks who make most of their decisions based on the political winds and if they happen to be in sync with the Constitution so much the better.
These are supposed to be the best Constitutional minds in the country and they ALMOST always create a 5-4 decision.
Yes, the corruption of our government is so great even the USSC is part of the ruling elite mafia.
If these servants with such “brilliant minds” (the politicians and media tell us they are) can only be 55% sure of our highest laws why the hell should any citizen be expected to know, understand, and follow the hundreds of thousands of laws puked out by governments at all levels?
Roberts afraid to write an opinion? Might rub Mr. Soros the wrong way?
FURATS!
Thanx double L ... honestly, I’m too tired and lazy to go looking and reading.
It's unusual to see any opinions on a stay application, because the Court hasn't heard the case yet. Typically, you have a one sentence order that says "The application for a stay is denied." The way I read this is that the four liberals wrote an opinion dissenting from the denial, so Scalia felt the need to answer them, and Roberts didn't want to seem to be involved in the in-fighting.
They can convert it into a car wash.
Conservatives should go ‘Alinsky’ on the ‘Progressives’ making them follow their call for Safe, Rare and Legal procedures.
Boom!
SCOTUS finally got one right! They owe us a bunch after finding Obamacare, err, rewriting Obamacare to find it constitutional. (Small c for effect)
Have you seen the new mosque close to Sugar Land? If you are headed west on the Beltway, it’s on the north feeder road just before you get to the 59 north/south interchange from the Beltway. Was by there last Friday and looks like it’s almost finished. Not sure if that area is in Missouri City or Houston.
Seems like we are always fighting something.
