House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with the House GOP’s talks with the White House to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, suggesting his colleagues on the other side of the Capitol were betraying Speaker John Boehner.
“They’re trying to cut the House out, and trying to jam us with the Senate. We’re not going to roll over and take that,” Ryan told reporters. When asked if he felt “double crossed,” Ryan said “you look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.”
Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP.
Ryan said House Republicans only learned the details about the plan this morning, and added that he strenuosly objects to it. When asked which parts of the plan he objected to, Ryan said there are “too many to go into.”
One of the most significant differences between a House framework sent to the White House late Thursday and Collins’ plan is the length of time it would extend the debt ceiling. Boehner has put forward a six-week extension, while Collins’ plan has been reported to extend almost until February 2014.
At a closed-door meeting with House Republicans minutes earlier, Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a similar message to their colleagues.
“We need Senate Republicans to stand up and stand firm,” Cantor said, according to a person in the room.
Boehner said that in talks between the two sides, Obama had agreed to nothing and said the House would be holding its position for now.

I find it beyond insulting that they have all stopped talking about obamacare and are yakking incessantly about deals on everything else under the sun.
The only ones still talking about it are the usual few.
I caught Bachmann’s speech at the Values Voters Summit. Her unyielding demand is that obamacare be made totally optional, for EVERYONE. Go there if you want to, if you don’t, don’t, with no punishment.
Short of that, she would obviously be enraged.

I thought he was a really "bright light". He is a bit wonkish, but has a great command of the issues. It's to bad he lacks the conviction of a leader who knows what principals are worth dying for. obamacare is what this fight is about. If they don't get concessions on that there was no point in lining up and fighting with them.

Shifting the fight away from obamacare will be the undoing of the Pub elites. They think they will weather the storm from within the party and maintain their majority with their gerrymandered districts. I don't think so. A lot of Tea Party supporters such as myself will stop doing the leg work for the Pubs and stop voting in the general elections if it's not a Tea Party Pub on the ballot. Forget winning the Senate and after immigration reform forget winning the Presidency.
These RINO SOBs ... like Ryan who cannot figure out if he is fish, fowl, or good red meat ... are fighting at the funeral over who gets what from the deceased's estate. In the meantime, we are ruled by Executive Order enforced by the Federal Bureaucracy.

Mrs. Ryan’s professors described her as being interested in social justice and the broader world around her. She belonged to Wellesley’s art and music society and spent the spring of 1990 studying in Córdoba, Spain, to sharpen her Spanish and explore other parts of Europe.
“I didn’t get the sense that she was a political activist,” said Professor Renjilian-Burgy, who wrote Mrs. Ryan’s recommendation to study abroad. But when it came to topics like the history and treatment of indigenous peoples around the world, Professor Renjilian-Burgy said, “she was very sensitive to these issues.” ......

....”Mrs. Ryan’s uncle, former Senator David Boren (D-Okla.) was a foriegn policy advisor to then-Senator Obama during his 2008 run for the White House. He is currently the co-chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. The other co-chair is retired Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.).
Her cousin is Representative Dan Boren (D-Okla.), a member of the conservative Blue Dog caucus who announced his retirement in June. (Dan Boren’s father was once Governor of Oklahoma.)

Like everyone else I'm hoping that the media reports are wrong, but if they are right I know there will be a seachange in political support against the Pubs. The Rats will not only have won this battle, but destroyed the Pub party as a viable majority in the future.
