Paul Ryan Flashes Anger at Senate Republicans
National Review Online ^ | October 12, 2013 | Jonathan Strong

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with the House GOP’s talks with the White House to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, suggesting his colleagues on the other side of the Capitol were betraying Speaker John Boehner.

“They’re trying to cut the House out, and trying to jam us with the Senate. We’re not going to roll over and take that,” Ryan told reporters. When asked if he felt “double crossed,” Ryan said “you look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.”

Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP.

Ryan said House Republicans only learned the details about the plan this morning, and added that he strenuosly objects to it. When asked which parts of the plan he objected to, Ryan said there are “too many to go into.”

One of the most significant differences between a House framework sent to the White House late Thursday and Collins’ plan is the length of time it would extend the debt ceiling. Boehner has put forward a six-week extension, while Collins’ plan has been reported to extend almost until February 2014.

At a closed-door meeting with House Republicans minutes earlier, Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a similar message to their colleagues.

“We need Senate Republicans to stand up and stand firm,” Cantor said, according to a person in the room.

Boehner said that in talks between the two sides, Obama had agreed to nothing and said the House would be holding its position for now.

Yes, they cannot help but know what we demand of them.

I find it beyond insulting that they have all stopped talking about obamacare and are yakking incessantly about deals on everything else under the sun.

The only ones still talking about it are the usual few.

I caught Bachmann’s speech at the Values Voters Summit. Her unyielding demand is that obamacare be made totally optional, for EVERYONE. Go there if you want to, if you don’t, don’t, with no punishment.

Short of that, she would obviously be enraged.

Likewise!!

“New England” ought to be renamed “New Sweden”. All the liberalism, just without the accent.

In other words, “How dare you interfere in our planned capitulation with a plan of your own!!”

Maybe Ryan didn't like being played. Problem is, it's arrogant for any of them to think they won't be played, now by members of their own party.

I hope the RINOs know what this means. NEVER AGAIN will constitutional conservatives vote for them as the "lesser of two evils". If they're not going to let conservatives solve the mess, let the dems have it all. And we'll vote in a new, spunkier, more determined minority party.

Ryan's wife comes from a political family (dems) so they're marinated in "how it's done" in order to have a long "distinguished" career.

I didn't know, thanks.

I thought he was a really "bright light". He is a bit wonkish, but has a great command of the issues. It's to bad he lacks the conviction of a leader who knows what principals are worth dying for. obamacare is what this fight is about. If they don't get concessions on that there was no point in lining up and fighting with them.

More like he lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with his and Boehnor and Cantor’s ateempts to cave in to the Whitehouse.

Shifting the fight away from obamacare will be the undoing of the Pub elites. They think they will weather the storm from within the party and maintain their majority with their gerrymandered districts. I don't think so. A lot of Tea Party supporters such as myself will stop doing the leg work for the Pubs and stop voting in the general elections if it's not a Tea Party Pub on the ballot. Forget winning the Senate and after immigration reform forget winning the Presidency.

The GOP as we know it ... or knew it ... is dead.

These RINO SOBs ... like Ryan who cannot figure out if he is fish, fowl, or good red meat ... are fighting at the funeral over who gets what from the deceased's estate. In the meantime, we are ruled by Executive Order enforced by the Federal Bureaucracy.

The US and Canada are the only two countries in this hemisphere that have not been wracked by continuous violent revolution. The way things are going, at some point in the future, Canada is going to be mighty lonely.

However, before the shooting actually starts, it looks as if we may suffer under one-party rule for a while while things get sorted out and until Civil war II begins. "How long a while?" That is the only operative question.

For the Ryans, a Union Across Political Lines "....... Friends say Mrs. Ryan chose her political life’s path with a sense of purpose, and they describe her as being a “practical conservative” these days, even if she might once have been more of a Democrat.

As a former Wellesley roommate, Rachel Clark, said of their college days: “I think it’s fair to say that we were all on the more liberal side of things back then. And as often happens, people’s views change and evolve over time.”

As she adopts a more public role, she has seemed uncomfortable in the spotlight. At the rally where Mitt Romney named Mr. Ryan as his running mate, Mrs. Ryan was given the opportunity to speak after Ann Romney, but she declined the invitation, shaking her head slightly, an unusually spontaneous moment for such a scripted event.

She is not, however, someone who has shied away from asserting herself. Mrs. Ryan is a lawyer and a tax specialist who, before her marriage, worked for prestigious government affairs and accounting firms as a lobbyist, representing some of the biggest names in a range of industries, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Novartis and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

[snip]

Mrs. Ryan went east to study at Wellesley, following in the footsteps of her mother, Prudence Little, who, according to her obituary, was a founding member of the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. Mrs. Ryan’s father, Dan Little, who is also a lawyer, practices in Madill, Okla., where Mrs. Ryan and her two sisters grew up.

Mrs. Ryan’s mother struggled with cancer for the last 35 years of her life, first battling advanced melanoma, then breast cancer, then ovarian cancer and a recurrence of the melanoma she thought she had beat. She died two years ago. Mrs. Ryan was always open about how she dealt with her mother’s long illness, even discussing how she coped in a Spanish class, said Joy Renjilian-Burgy, a professor.

Mrs. Ryan’s professors described her as being interested in social justice and the broader world around her. She belonged to Wellesley’s art and music society and spent the spring of 1990 studying in Córdoba, Spain, to sharpen her Spanish and explore other parts of Europe.

“I didn’t get the sense that she was a political activist,” said Professor Renjilian-Burgy, who wrote Mrs. Ryan’s recommendation to study abroad. But when it came to topics like the history and treatment of indigenous peoples around the world, Professor Renjilian-Burgy said, “she was very sensitive to these issues.” ......

His political career is first, foremost and always on his mind like any other RINO’s.

....”Mrs. Ryan’s uncle, former Senator David Boren (D-Okla.) was a foriegn policy advisor to then-Senator Obama during his 2008 run for the White House. He is currently the co-chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. The other co-chair is retired Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.).

Her cousin is Representative Dan Boren (D-Okla.), a member of the conservative Blue Dog caucus who announced his retirement in June. (Dan Boren’s father was once Governor of Oklahoma.)

Even beyond her family ties, Janna Ryan has firmly established herself in political spheres. Before marrying Paul Ryan, she spent her time in Washington, D.C., as a lobbyist.”....

This is quite ironic. The feared cavers-in of the House GOP are mad at the Senate cavers-in for raising the anti.

Now maybe they can buy a clue how we, the American people who aren’t being represented by any of the cavers-in of DC, feel ALL of the time.

AMEN

I'm with you.

Like everyone else I'm hoping that the media reports are wrong, but if they are right I know there will be a seachange in political support against the Pubs. The Rats will not only have won this battle, but destroyed the Pub party as a viable majority in the future.

That’s bad, when Pubbies in one Chamber are folding so fast that they are upsetting Pubbies in the other Chamber who want to fold first.
