If the nation is lucky, this October will mark the beginning of the end of the tea party.
The movement is suffering from extreme miscalculation and a foolish misreading of its opponents intentions. This, in turn, has created a moment of enlightenment, an opening to see things that were once missed.
Many Republicans, of course, saw the disaster coming in advance of the shutdown. But they were terrified to take on a movement that is fortified by money, energy and the backing of a bloviating brigade of talk-show hosts. The assumption was that the tea party had become invincible inside the GOP.
People who knew better followed Sen. Ted Cruz down a path of confrontation over Obamacare. Yet even before the shutdown began, Republicans stopped talking about an outright repeal of Obamacare, as House Speaker John Boehners ever-changing demands demonstrated.
The extent of the rout was then underscored in the hot-microphone incident last week when Sen. Rand Paul was caught plotting strategy with Sen. Mitch McConnell. Pauls words, spoken after he had finished a television interview, said more than he realized.

EJ, the bed wetter, declared the Tea Party dead a month ago. Nostradamus in urine ain’t too purty.
It’s only the beginning.
I love it when liberals attempt hide their hatred under an umbrella of phony concern.
It’s almost a high...
Almost obscene...
I guess his caretakers let E.J out of his straitjacket long enough for him to write his thoroughly demented columns. The Tea Party is here to stay. He and his elite, upper-crust Republican friends better get used to it.
The Tea Party is working to fix things in America. The Left is working to destroy things. They are the epitome of Do-nothings. They are promoting what is virtually a sit-down strike in the Federal Government. A closure is not what this is.
Where do I go to get the 45 seconds I wasted reading the vapid dreck from this assclown?
The attack is not a last stand but an assault on the left wing that has breached the outer defenses.
Dingy Harry is the vulnerable commander of the defenses. He will die in his efforts to throwback the attackers. His tenure will be over
As a writer, Dionne is only safe in the six inch wading pool, IF he has his little float devices firmly attached to his upper arms and torso.
You almost feel pity for the man, except you realize what he is failing at accomplishing, and realize how pathetic he is at doing evil.
Civil War Two Ping.
Dionne encapsulates the thinking of the statists very well, and shows the risk of an all-out conflict beginning November if Obama refuses to budge on the debt limit.
He might take the opportunity to cut off all entitlement checks, and blame it on the Republicans. If the EBT/SNAP money is cut off, our cities could explode.
The music may stop in November.
When the music stops: how America’s cities may explode in violence
Completely delusional and living in an alternate reality. If the writer was paying attention, he would see that what’s worse than the shutdown is the implementation of Obamacare. It is a fiasco and one that will be long and drawn out into the next year. Suddenly, all the TEA Party’s claims are going to materialize into big, bold facts. Even my sister who hates Sarah Palin had to admit she was right about the death panels.
“...his October will mark the beginning of the end of the tea party. ...”
In your dreams, “Dionne”.
To believe this author one must be like the town folk in this short clip. Let’s hope the House Republicans are not this stooopid!

The TEA Party will end when the last progressive draws a breath... and that will be a loooooooong time because unlike obama, the rat party and his SS... Conservatives do not murder people.
