Barry Smitherman, head of the powerful Texas Railroad Commission, is making waves for his comments about economic collapse, energy policy and the future.
But don

Did I mention that I really don't like LBJ?

You’re likely to get flamed for your very accurate observations on the Mexican work ethic, but you are absolutely right.
I’m strongly in favor of a strongly enforced guest worker program. These are good folks willing to work hard for minimum wage.
I like your ideas.
My boys and I are natural born Americans who work every day in the Texas sun. There's still some of us out here.
I am available for an internship.
If she had paid for the program I might be impressed.
If I had a few hundred million dollars of someone elses money to spend I could make some pretty landscapes too.
Hello right back—and how nice to hear from you. All is well with me, AFAIK, and if it isn’t, I hope nobody will tell me—LOL!
We’re just returning from a road trip to, of all places, Bolling AFB in DC. Hope to make it home tomorrow........
I remember someone once asked Chuck Norris if he ever wanted to be president.
Chuck answered, “Yes! Of Texas!”
OKaaay..No penny for Ladybird.
But please don’t take it out on the bluebonnets. ;)
Your post gave me the best laugh of the day!
Travel blessings.

I'm a Texas boy, I wouldn't aim at a bluebonnet on purpose. ;)

I would have to look back to verify...but I think there was a non-profit that was formed. It provided seeds only...but heck that was a long time ago, my memory could be faulty.
Somehow I knew you wouldn’t aim at a bluebonnet..I just knew it in my deepest heart of hearts. :)
(I agree with you 10000 per cent about LBJ).
If I am wrong please let me know.
I will still despise LBJ and everything about him but I would still like to know.
Thanks for the ping
“Our established body of law here is that the mineral interest owner has priority over the surface interest owner, explained Smitherman, adding that, the state of Texas has very little land owned by the federal government. Because we are a private land ownership state, private land owners and mineral owners are incentivized to recover and allow drilling on their property. The federal government, for whatever reason, makes it difficult to recover oil on federal land.
Most important statement he made in my opinion. Because if someone comes messing with my dirt he better be ready to pay with the same blood sweat and toil that I and my family have paid with.
End of Story.
You don’t know Texas. And there have been Tejanos and Gringos in Texas since the Revolution. From the very beginning of The Republic of Texas.
Texas will Never Be California, New York, Mass. Texas will NOT turn blue. There will be a hot war before that happens.
Texas is not where you were born, but a State of Heart, Mind & Attitude.
And that attitude is not unique to Texas. One of my favorite articles illustrates that:
“Born American, But in the Wrong Place” by Peter W. Schramm

Bump!
The winner will be Todd Staples, the present Ag commissioner. He's a conservative in every way including gun man. I worked with him in his election to be our state senator and I've never seen such an effective election team. He is fluent in his speech and I've seen him, by speech, cut an opponent off at the knees with the truth. He never stops campaigning during a reelection effort. PLUS, HE RIDES A HORSE. He's a man's man and good looking for the women.

I'm not trying to highjack the spirit of your thread, which is a strong and independent Texas.

Please put me on the ping list.
