Barry Smitherman, head of the powerful Texas Railroad Commission, is making waves for his comments about economic collapse, energy policy and the future.
But don

Let me know if he needs any help.
Talking about it for another 10-20 years will just mean it'll be too late by the time they get around to acting.

From the article:
He talks about economic collapse as what will happen to the rest of the United States, not Texas. And he talks about energy policy as a way to make sure Texas commerce will continue, without the rest of the United States. And when he talks about the future, he focuses on Texas, because he believes there might not be the rest of the United States.
See a pattern?
One of the things Ive focused on in the last 10 years of my public sector life is preparing Texas to be a prosperous and safe place to work, regardless of what happens outside our borders, he said.
We are uniquely situated because we have energy resources, fossil and otherwise, and our own independent electrical grid. Generally speaking, we have made great progress in becoming an independent nation, an island nation if you will, and I think we want to continue down that path so that if the rest of the country falls apart, Texas can operate as a stand-alone entity with energy, food, water and roads as if we were a closed-loop system.
How does he plan to achieve it?
Frankly, I’d like to see California do it. Kick out the folks who don’t belong here, fix things so the Left will have to escape rather than live like decent conservatives, and get California back to what it should have been all along.
“They better get on with it before demographics overwhelm them.”
Won’t be long until Texas is purple. Then it is just a short jump to blue. No way they can stay red with the illegal influx, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and the other urban ghettos that are sure to arise. Enjoy it down there while you can. You are on the road to being California, New York, Mass and those other places no decent conservative wants to live in. Thinking I’m in a really bad mood today.
The rest of the world could fall off the map, and Texas is good for 'lectrickity since we're not really tied to the national electric grid.
That's been reality for a long time.

I sounds like it’ll happen on its own.
Doesn’t always work that way, it won’t for Texas, in spite of any indications, I know, minority babies majority now and so on.
Thanks for the ping!
Interesting poll at the link.
Not quite sure who his competition will be but reps from his campaign are showing up at gatherings all over the state. Difficult for outsiders to understand the importance of the Railroad Commissioner in Texas - has nothing to do with railroads. Supported Barry in the past and at this point in time would certainly vote for him for AG.
Thanks for sharing your negativity.
Those of us here in Texas may not listen much to it, though. Faith in God can help.

I am not sure how he plans to achieve it...was just glad to see there’s people in power thinking this way!
like to be on the Texas ping list please- thanks
