President Barack Obama has named sixteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the nations highest civilian honor. Abortion activist Gloria Steinem will be one of the recipients.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors, and Obama apparently believes dedicating ones life to promoting abortion is a part of that list.
Obama said The Presidential Medal of Freedom goes to men and women who have dedicated their own lives to enriching ours. This years honorees have been blessed with extraordinary talent, but what sets them apart is their gift for sharing that talent with the world. It will be my honor to present them with a token of our nations gratitude.
Steinem has a long history of pushing abortion as the founder of Ms. Magazine who held fundraisers for Obama during his campaign.
Obama has given the Presidential Medal of Freedom to abortion activists before.
Sen. Ted Kennedy has earned pro-abortion records for decades for repeatedly voting to promote abortion, including his opposition to a ban on partial-birth abortions. yet he received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from Obama in 2009. Obama also awarded a medal to pro-abortion former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day OConnor.
Not only did OConnor repeatedly promote an unlimited right to abortion throughout pregnancy during her tenure on the Supreme Court, she authored the high court decision that overturned state bans on partial-birth abortion. The Supreme Court had to go back, years later, and reverse her decision to allow the national partial-birth abortion ban to stand.
Obama also gave a presidential medal to Billie Jean King, the acclaimed professional tennis player in the 1960s and 1970s. However, King joined the pro-abortion group Emilys List in march 2007 to work for the presidential campaign of abortion advocate Hillary Clinton.
Reverend Joseph Lowery also received a medal from Obama even though he participated in an event in October 2006 where he joined with pro-abortion black leaders Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson in saying abortion is not an issue for black Americans.
Obama also gave an award to Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Although Ireland laws protect unborn children, Robinson supports abortion as a human right.

Obama awarded a Presidential medal of Freedom to pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
While Obama is supporting abortion activists with a high civilian honor, President George W. Bush awarded the medal to pro-life advocates. Former member of Congress Henry Hyde received one as did Cuba pro-life activist Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Executive Order signed by President John F. Kennedy establishing the Presidential Medal of Freedom, as well as the first ceremony bestowing the honor on an inaugural class of 31 recipients. Since that time, more than 500 exceptional individuals from all corners of society have been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
This medal is now a useless chunk of metal.
A devalued honor, like the Nobel Prize.
Sort of like the old Soviet Union, where the comrades would walk around with their fronts covered with all kinds of shiny medals for potty training, party loyalty, etc.
Yep. As meaningless as the Nobel Peace Prize.
Steinem who proudly wears a t-shirt that says “I had an abortion” which she had before ‘73 in The UK and thought, “This is so great, it should be legal in the US”.... The woman is EVIL personified.
Presidential Medal of Freedom means nothing ,just like Nobel Peace Prize
I was going to say, after this if I was offered this award I’d decline it.
Not even if it had chocolate inside. Like that noble piece of crap.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
There never was any meaning in these silly awards anyway. They have always been an excuse to reward political pals, and make the elite feel even better about themselves. Who gives a rat’s butt?
Yup. But I find it interesting how the politicization of the Medal of Freedom so closely parallels what happened to the Medal of Honor. The Medal of Honor was created during the unCivil War. By the end of the war it was being handed out to party hacks and politically connected. I think it was in the 1870s during the Grant administration, it was decided to restore the Medal to it’s original intent. I forget now, but I think over a hundred recipients had their Medals taken back. Now it is one of the most valued medals for valor in the world or even in history.
All Putin need to do now, is give Snowden the Russian Presidential Medal of Freedom...LMAO!
PSALM :8
You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.
And we shall know our enemoy by these medals around their necks!
*SPIT*
Just like an oscar, emmy, espy you name it... If you don’t win it in competition it is meaningless.
“If you dont win it in competition it is meaningless.”
I like the way you think. Our oldest son says that any competition without an objective measure of success (points scored, best time, etc.) isn’t a real competition. Figure skating, for example, is silly. It may be pretty, but it’s not really competition nor a sport.
Along with the Nobel Peace prize that was given to Arafat of all people - along with Carter and Obamalamadingdong before he did anything ....
Bingo, either by clock or score against an opponent. Anything based entirely on being judged is a subjective pant load.
Oh yeah. Those captured little creatures, with no way to run, no where to hide, have no freedom when the suction tube cometh.
