Actually it was a Big Horn Sheep, not a Mt. Goat, that was attacked by a cougar. The pictures on the website are gruesome and not for the squeemish. But, they show a vivid story we can only imagine by looking at the aftermath.

It appears that the two animals were locked in a life and death struggle and fell to their deaths from the rock cliffs above the highway in Glacier National Park.

There are more pictures on the link, but they are not for the faint of heart. It makes me wonder how many stories of cruel reality play out in the wilds everyday, just as they do in what some still think of as civilized society.

I watched the cruelty of nature on an eagle cam a couple of months ago.

It was so sad.

If only those creeps hadn’t built a road in the middle of the pristine wilderness these two of God’s creatures would still be walking the earth.

OK.... For the low info voters.... /s

Friend of mine lost her oscar (large aquarium fish) and her parakeet on the same day. She had neglected to put the tank cover on, and while she was out, the budgie apparently swooped low over the fish tank. Oscar saw LUNCH and lunged upward. He got hold of the bird (and ultimately managed to drown it) but it fought him and inflicted severe wounds. When she came home, she found them both dead in the tank.

Somewhere, there’s a flock of ravens that was the real winner of this contest.

A group of us came across a foot wide blood streaked trail in the Rockies that went on for at least half a mile. Either something was dragging a bloody kill or Dexter is getting sloppy.

It was eye opening for the kids. Had to be one big cat. We impressed that point on the kids.
