Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said it would be "foolish" to write of Sen. Marco Rubio's (R-Fla.) presidential chances, despite the hit absorbed by the Florida lawmaker from conservatives upset with his championing of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
Rubio and McCain served as two of the primary GOP negotiators in the Senate's "Gang of Eight," which crafted the upper chamber's bipartisan reform bill.
I think its just foolish, McCain told The Arizona Republic in an interview Friday. Im not endorsing anyone, but I can tell you Marco Rubio is an articulate spokesperson for what conservatives believe in, in principle. And if we pass immigration reform, which is certainly not clear, he would get enormous credit for it.

Marco has already started lying low to avoid anymore damage from this ridiculous sellout bill. As THE person most visibly in support of this on the TV and radio talkshows it is very telling that he was a no-show at a meeting yesterday to discuss how to get the House to do something on this turd piece of legislation.
Guess Marco has read the handwriting on the wall: Mene, Mene, Tekel, UpyoursRubio.
Only future for him in politics is if the Dry Tortugas has a mayor.
Who let McCain out of the home?
Oh, Juan the puppet master....get your hand out of the rube’s azzzz..... you’re on your own. Rube doesn’t stand a chance at even being senator again, and if the citizens of Arizona have any sense at all, neither do you.
Tis unfortunate to have to put him in the rotten fsih bucket, he once was a decent hope for conservatives. He’s more than a disappointment lately, he’s off the reservation. First Rubio, then Ryan. It’s like they’ve all gone mad......
“Foolish” is listening to anything that comes out of McCain’s mouth.
Well, Mc. He may contend, but he won’t win.
You know how that is.
It’s certainly a fact that the old guard thinks they shouldn’t even have to run for re-election. Just like Arlin Specter.
Time to fold your tent Mr Rubio, the fat lady is singing.
........From an expert in foolishness.
Rubio ,who is Rubio ?
Call me a fool..... if this is what it takes
Maybe McCain will get his dementia treated soon by obamacare.
Maybe McCain will get his dementia treated soon by obamacare.
Call me foolish, then.
If anyone knows about foolish, ...
Yeah, Ryan even stood on stage at an event with Luis “La Raza” Gutierez, supporting amnesty. He also came out in favor of gay adoption, too! And Ryan was supposed to be the “conservative” balance to the RR-2012 ticket! In retrospect, his choice as veep-candidate is looking all the more duplicitous on the part of the GOP-E, trying to pull the wool over the eyes of tea-party conservatives.
Along with Boehner’s cavings, Rubio’s bald-faced betrayal, and four-years of backstabbing Palin and the tea-party, my faith and trust in the Republican Party has been rendered little more than cold ashes.
John who?
Marco who?
