Yet another reason to find the Enzi/Cheney race fascinating. Tough call here for Maverick. Does he strike a blow for incumbency by backing his pal Mike, even though it means siding with wacko bird nemesis, Rand Paul? Or does he strike a blow for interventionism by endorsing the tea-party favorite Cheney? Heres the answer, via the Corner. McCain endorsing anyone named Cheney at this point was a long shot, incumbent opponent or no. Hes been at odds with Dick sporadically for at least 10 years, dating back to the Bush tax cuts, then to the debate over enhanced interrogation, and then to Cheneys criticism of him after leaving office for his VP pick and his bizarre political strategy during the 2008 financial crisis. (Cheney wasnt above publicly knocking McCain in the heat of the 2008 presidential campaign either.) Liz Cheney actually took McCains side last year after her father called Palins VP selection a mistake, a shrewd move for an aspiring Senate candidate planning to run as a tea partier in a red state. That plus super-hawkishness, and still Mavericks unambiguously for Enzi here.
Even so, is she better off having McCain on the other side? Maverick might be seen as a respected elder statesman by Wyoming Republicans who dont follow politics closely even though the national base rants about him daily.

Naw, I aint gonna do no fu#king homework. I wouldnt pi$$ on McCains head if his hair was on fire. Its way past time for that old fart to go sit on his front porch and watch the Arizona sunset.
Brilliant statement!
McCain is right on Enzi, though.
I’ll just say that I detest McCain without going into details.
I’m not confusing her with anyone.
Are you going to tell me you’re comfortable voting for someone who hasn’t even declared their position on illegal immigration by this point?
If someone wants to call me a one issue voter based on that, it’s a moniker I’ll wear proudly.
Well sure, and if she winds up actually being very similar to McCain based on views, how will that please you?
how conservative can she be if she does not take a stand on amnesty and the homo agenda?
McCain, like most senators, endorses the incumbent as a way to pile up favors to call in later. That’s all this is, folks. McCain is playing the odds.
She can declare her own position. Who are “they” whose opinion you also want her to declare?
Thanks Mozilla.

Totally inaccurate.
LIZ Cheney wanted DADT ended and rejoiced when it was, she was against DOMA, is against a constitutional amendment to save marriage, and supports gay marriage, and supports the State department move to the gay agenda.
Liz Cheney is very pro-gay agenda, and I would like to see her a pro-life position statement made during the years before this week.
The post was crystal clear. If you’re having a problem grasping it, I can’t help you.

Sorry, the guy just isn't capable of that kind of conspiracy.......
I can believe that.
I can also believe he sandbagged his own campaign while Palin was busting her behind for him. But that only further endeared him to his "friends on the other side of the aisle" and the same media who nicknamed him, "Maverick."
Public school grad, right?
Sorry -- bending over for the Democrats and sandbagging himself and conservatives is EXACTLY what McCain has done best. It's been no mirage.
Liz is pro-Gay marriage and pro-NSA up-our-ying-yangs. She's a hard-core Statist, so she'll no doubt support Amnesty.
"Conservative"? Compared to whom? Barry 0??
Do you honestly believe the guy play acts in an actual conspiracy with these Marxist @ssholes?
He not only knows it, he LIKES it. McCain never gets any credit :-)

Let's put it this way; McCain is a trained contrarian seal who will wear the ballcap of the OTHER side. FOR KICKS.
But while you're on the subject, we just witnessed a sick GH Bush visiting 0bama at the White Hut. And both GW and Cheney recently supporting 0bama's NSA policy of violating the 4th Amendment at will. They both support 0bama's Amnesty as well. Kinda strange on all counts, don't you think?
