In the near future, Americans who own or want guns likely will be subject to rafts of new questions from social scientists, medical researchers and law enforcement officials intent to discover just what guns they own, why they own them and what they intend to use them for — not to mention where and how they keep them.
They will also likely have more researchers poring over such issues as whether childhood education programs against gun violence actually work; whether there actually is any relationship between violence in the media and in real life; and whether the safety plans that were drawn up by schools, colleges and communities in the wake of highly publicized mass shootings actually are effective.
Those and many other gun-related questions are the thrust of a new social science research agenda that the Obama administration hopes will keep the push for gun control alive for years to come.
The research agenda is intended to produce mammoth amounts of raw data on American gun owners, users and their circumstances, meaning that violence resulting from firearms use will be studied for “its causes, approaches to interventions that could prevent it, and strategies to minimize its health burden.”
This includes, for example, such things as “the potential health risks and benefits (e.g., suicide rates, personal protection) of having a firearm in the home under a variety of circumstances (including storage practices) and settings.”
The agenda, which aims to sidestep Second Amendment political and constitutional issues of gun ownership through its public health focus, was released earlier this month in a 124-page report titled, “Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearms Related Violence.” It was sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) with financial support from private foundations.

Its also obvious that Obamao and his brown shirts have realized that the government has trained a whole lot of military personnel who love America to expertly handle and enjoy firearms -— who are coming home in big numbers. Since these people are a high threat to his tyrannical plans, don’t doubt for a minute that he won’t have them diagnosed with PTSD and require medications and therapy. Hence no gun ownership will be allowed for all these very capable patriots, i.e. our self defense against tyranny.

Painfully true. The old guard Republicans don’t want to win, they just want to get invited to all the dinner parties.
Wrong. The availability of guns has already dramatically improved. Retail stores and gun show tables are full of AR-15's and M4's at less than $1,000 apiece. Less than half of the asking prices of just a few months ago.
All types of centerfire ammo is also now available, albeit still at somewhat elevated prices as compared to a year ago.
Rimfire ammo is another story. Fearful folks have striped the shelves clean and wait in line to buy much more than they will ever use. It is very difficult to reason with such kooks, survivalists and wannabe revolutionaries. But in time they will hoard enough or run out of money and things will return to a new normal.
And don't blame the manufacturers. They have never produced more ammunition and are totally maxed out. Their analyst's advice against massive investment to satisfy a short term panic. There is also a long lead time to acquire and install new equipment in yet to be built production facilities.
We have met the enemy. It is those who have purchased unneeded and/or excessive stores of ammunition.
Lying to the government is a form a Patriotism if the government is out to deprive you of fundamental rights.

If this gets off the ground, it will have all the credibility that “climate research” enjoys. Those making a living from the research will find there is good reason to remove guns from everyone save the “authorities.”
Even if they have to prove their reasoning through the use of tree-ring evidence from Siberia.

Eventually, yes...they will. Lying will work for the time being, but understand...the statist dictators need you to be disarmed in order for their agenda to advance to its Orwellian end. All the dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge techniques, and cute and clever ways of not giving them what they want will eventually result in them just coming and taking it...and/or you.
Lie all you want, but make no mistake...they want your (our) guns, and are going to come after them no matter what you (we) do. These partial steps they're taking are just cover, so they can say, "well, we tried" before they start kicking in doors and rounding us up.
It's (way past) time to draw a line, and make a stand.

And when they eventually come to search your house/arrest you anyway, are you ready to do your real patriotic duty? Lying is a great temporary measure, but make no mistake...it's not going to stop their efforts to take your guns. The worst is going to happen.

Good post. I disagree a bit in that I think the “Hoarders” are actually doing a public good. Ammo reserved for a true crisis is valuable, even more than ammo used today for recreation or training.
Regardless, I intend to tell them it isn't any of their business.
Deflect, distract, dissuade, and just don't give them an answer they can construe as a lie. Be evasive, remember that appointment, get a group of friends together who will all call you in five minute intervals for an hour or two if they stop by --one text to get things rolling and do the same for each other. (Oops, sorry, I have to take this call!--then talk about the weather.). Just don't let them in. Make them stand in the hall or on the steps. Make getting anything approaching an answer out of you a real pain in the butt, and then don't tell them anything.
They don't NEED to know.
I fill a doorway pretty well. Not short of assault or a warrant, they won't.
They have been at this for 100 years+.
