So the blacks were not part of the city? That sounds like a good thing. I prefer living in the unincorporated areas. Lower taxes, simpler laws, etc.

Back when I was growing up in South Carolina the evil white racists had a novel way of keeping the blacks in line. Namely they used them to man the stockades when the Indians attacked.

Sadly 80 years later, nothing has changed in my home town. That’s why the Supreme Court decision today is so awful...

When I was growing up, we had to pump water from a well.

Your point, Mr. Robinson?

There is a real easy way to control demographics.

You don't think DHS is buying all that ammo and all those APVs for nothing, do you?

Burdensome voter ID laws

Proving one's identity is quite a burden to those who would cheat...

Eugene Robinson is a certifiably insane nimrod. I guess it never occurred to him that cities are more likely to annex suburbs which are likely to produce more in tax revenue than they will use in public services, not the other way around.

There is a reason why even a one party Democrat city like Pittsburgh would love to annex Mt. Lebanon (mostly upper middle class white) but wouldn't want Wilkinsburg (40% lower class black). And it has nothing to do with race.

And his equating common sense voter ID laws as recently passed in Pennsylvania and Ohio with Jim Crow voting laws in the old (Democrat) south is beyond idiotic.

The ascendancy of previously underrepresented minorities as full participants in U.S. democracy is a secular trend, and no five men in robes can hold it back

Thus explaining the real motivation for modern immigration: to extinguish the white majority.

Invasion and conquest of a nation, rather than "immigration".

But of course, Mr. Robinson never imagines what a white minority United States might look like. Which is surprising, because an example exists next door: it's called Mexico.

Without boring him about the condition of the few africans in racist Mexico, we can definitely say that the standard of living is well below that which most blacks enjoy in this Evil country.

The Aztecs and the Spaniards were never famous for creating such living conditions.

So for now, Mr. Robinson can engage in the fantasy that a non-European America will be just as good as the real America.

Alas, there is no evidence that such will be true. Maybe a bit in the Asian areas.

But if that guy knew anything about Asians, he certainly wouldn't think they planned to be hangin' in the hood with the likes of him. Modern day Oakland under Jean Quan and San Francisco under Bob Lee have shown that in gruesome relief.

So blacks have turnouts of 99%, 100%, sometimes even higher, in many, many, inner city precincts. That makes it difficult to see why this pre-clearance garbage still exists.

When I was growing up in Orangeburg, S.C., the white power structure found a clever way to keep African Americans from having a say in municipal affairs: They engineered the city’s boundaries, annexing white subdivisions but not black ones, so that whites would retain a majority — and blacks would remain, essentially, unrepresented

It's called Gerrymandering. And the left "power structure" does the same thing to conservative voters here in the Peoples' Republik of Kalifornistan.

In last year’s presidential election, black turnout was actually higher than white turnout. Latinos and Asian-Americans, too, continue their rise as powerful voting blocs. The ascendancy of previously underrepresented minorities as full participants in U.S. democracy is a secular trend, and no five men in robes can hold it back.
...........................................................

This is so true-—and look at what they got in the White House.
Those old racists weren’t so stupid after all were they?
They knew what they would get.

It’s like the Democrats today that gerrymander voting districts. That got us the Congressional Black caucus.
That sure was a step ahead wasn’t it?

One thing blacks will never stop doing is whining, and playing the race card.

How convenient Eugene....engineered boundaries, huh? Wow...only them sneaky white peeples and Republicans are evil enuff to do dat.... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/603552/posts To my mind, Princess Cynthia McKinney's first district was a masterpiece of 'boundary engineering'. Parts of it only went down the center of a highway to keep from getting any of those pesky whites mixed in there with dem voters..... Go lie somewhere else Gene.

What happens to cities when black DEMOCRATS gain majorities?

Do those cities thrive?

Are there any examples of this success?

You would think if this was a “good thing”, there’d be plenty of examples being touted by the left.
