The level of sexual violence in the US military has dramatically increased, according to a Pentagon report that shows more than 70 assaults on service members a day.
Around 26,000 members of the armed services are estimated to have been sexually assaulted in the last year, a sharp rise from 19,000 incidents recorded two years ago.
The report by the US Department of Defense come days after a senior officer responsible for preventing sexual assault in the Air Force was arrested and charged with drunkenly attacking a woman in a Virginia parking lot.
President Barack Obama called the findings an "an outrage" and said "we have to exponentially step up our game" in order to curb the widespread violence before women become more integrated into frontline combat roles.
The Pentagon report found that 12,000 - or six per cent - of the US military's 203,000 women on active duty had been victims of unwanted sexual contact in 2012. Of those, around 4,000 reported they had been forced to have sex against their will.
Just over 1 per cent of men reported they had been assaulted, according to the survey, which was filled out anonymously to encourage honesty.

I still say there's nothing wrong with women in front line combat positions and gays in the military!
How much have they increased since the end of DADT?........
And are they man-on-woman or man-on-man?
Barack Obama called the findings an "an outrage" and said "these attacks should only be done in bathhouses like the ones I used to go to."
From my military days I remember most of those women looked like you WOULD kick them out of bed for eating crackers. They never were asked out in H.S. so they enlist and all of a sudden there are 50 guys wanting them. Those (enlisted) that were not 2 baggers got to hang out at the officers club. Everyone accepted it. That was then.
Is it going to be called ‘workplace fondling?’
How many of those women were molested by lesbians?
I spent 8+years in what some might call one of the most turbulent times that had to do with Vietnam, drugs, hippies, wannabe’s (Dippity-do’s we called them), women in all the services segregated in separate units and organizations, and I still didn’t see the level of what this “70 incidents per day” implies.
I think it’s bullshit myself.
Read-up on the Soviet / Russian army in the late 80’s and 90’s.
Its what happens when politics and political-correctness takes over a military.
Coming soon to a US Army Base near you!
Since the study uses the phrase “Unwanted Sexual Advance” I’d say Mister Spock couldn’t calculate that.

Another Socialist experiment gone bust. This is precisely why great militaries throughout history did not have women in the ranks. It does not work.
Somebody you don’t like asks you for a date? If that’s how they are defining it, well, duh.
It says 26,000 members of the armed services are ESTIMATED to have been sexually assaulted....
I heard yesterday that the actual number of reported cases of sexual assault was around 3,000. So it is estimated that 7.5 times the reported assaults didn’t take time to report it. For sure there are some cases that don’t get reported but the multiplier to the actual number is just a number pulled from thin air.
I’m thinking that your thinking is correct.
Response: Exactly what was predicted when the sexually integrated military was proposed.
