Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told reporters on Wednesday that the compromise legislation he crafted with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) to expand background checks for gun purchasers does not have enough votes to pass the Senate when it comes up for a vote.

Chuck Todd, NBCs Chief White House Correspondent, speculated that, because the Manchin/Toomey compromise could not pass the House, there is no incentive for legislators who may be vulnerable on the issue of guns in 2014 to pass stricter legislation.

Well there’s a spot of good news.
Perdogg called it even when the Dems were celibrating the big win on this this weekend and late last week, many smiles and laughter on MSNBC over finally beating the NRA.
I think the bombing helped kill this bill that was already on life support. The Sandy Hook weeping (on camera) moms trying to keep it going are old news now. The Cameras have moved up to Boston.
Notice that Manchin-Toomey is what the ruling class wants. But, if it’s not going to pass, members of the ruling elite don’t want to be singled out as having voted for failed legislation.
I’d be surprised if there is more than 5 members of Congress that actually cares about Americans or America.
Thus Pat Toomey ends his political career for absolutely FREAKIN’ NOTHING!!!!!

the idea that he was going to be reelected in 2016 in PA with Hillary on the ballot in a Presidential year always struck me as fanciful. and that was before this.

I knew and said years ago that Manchin was a loser, when will people get it that the term “ Conservative Democrat” or even “ Christian Democrat” are both oxymoron’s
If any of these folks held any Conservative or Christian beliefs, they could not/would not be able to vote democrat in any way shape or form

Ding Dong, ding dong....You know a bipartisan legislative bill, even a Democrats dream bill like this one, is highly flawed when it can’t get past a cloture vote..... Everyone knows this bill is toxic because its a precursor to even worse legislation leading to a 2nd Amendment work around.
