Googles decision to mark Easter Sunday with a doodle of leftist icon Cesar Chavez atop its search engine angered some users in what they see as a snub of Jesus on the day Christians mark his resurrection.
However, Google executives offered quick apologies for the snub, issuing this statement: "We at Google honor Easter and are mortified that our Doodle of Chavez in any way upstaged this Holy Christian Holiday. We are reviewing the way Google Doodles are chosen on a go-forward basis."
The statement appeared to appease some high-profile Christian figures. "I'm not much of a fan of Google," remarked Cardinal Timothy Dolan, "but I appreciate their apology. It shows a sense of respect for Catholicism and Christianity."
The newly-elected Pope is expected to chime in to the controversy later today.
Google has created more than 1,000 doodles since 1998, when the concept was born when company founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin altered the logo to indicate their attendance at the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert.
Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists, a Google website reads.

Just saying.
I know this may be going against the grain of this thread, but if Google has a policy of not doing these “doodles” for any religious holiday, then I’m OK with them not doing one for Easter or Christmas. And while having the Chavez doodle on Easter was not a good idea, I’m not offended by it. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Google — don’t get me wrong — but I can’t get too worked up about this.
They are only apologizing because they got caught (in effect)
This was a DELIBERATE EFFORT on their part to ignore Easter- not some inadvertent slip-up.
I give you a lot of credit too Laz.
Their “mistake” was dropping the veil and revealing that they are anti-Christian communists.
Lefties know they can’t do that “out in the open”, YET.

As much as I hate Microsoft, I absolutely despise Google.
It’s Bing from now on.
Shove it up your collective smelly Obamas, Google.
Yeah, but you have to give Google a real tip-of-the-hat here. They manned up, they recognized their insensitivity to Christians, and they saved their reputations.
Yeah but at least they apologized.
No they weren’t. They knew exactly what they were doing and they flaunted everyone with it. They are socialists who cooperate with this Gestapo government of ours because they have ideology in common. They cared nothing about Easter, Jesus or any of the religious significence.
They are just doing a half-hearted “my bad” just like a bully who says the perfunctory apologies when caught. Screw them.
They DID remember to marke Islamic holidays... don’t forget - or fall for this left-handed apology.
The must be taking some serious heat. I have taken Google off as my defautl search engine and switched to Bing. I’ll try them for a while.
Does anyone want or need instructions on how to remove google?
If they did mark Islamic holidays, then I stand corrected. Then they deserve all the criticism they are getting.
"...and we should've had images of bunnies, eggs, and chocolate candies, instead."

Oh Geez. Its April Fools day. And so we begin with the tricks and jokes.
Or in Google’s case - a false, bogus and forced apology.
I love it when the mask slips and we get to see who these “people” really are.

They didn’t put up one for Easter last year.
You can check doodles of the past. there is a site for it.
