One of the greatest passages of the Bible (in my opinion, of course) is Luke 23: 39-43.
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: Arent you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. Dont you fear God, he said, since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.
42 Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
43 Jesus answered him, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.
The first man saved by grace to enter heaven; a criminal crucified at the side of the Savior. I have no doubt that this man had truly repented of his sins. Jesus did indeed have the power to save this man’s earthly life by breaking his binds on his cross. But he did not. Nor did the man ask for it. The man realized he had received his just earthly punishment for his sins, and Jesus did not come to spare us these. Instead, the man received the much greater reward of Eternal Life through the Lord. Some may think it depressing, I find it inspiring.

Good evening, Kathy!
*HUGS*
A good day, thanks! That brouhaha with my stinking bank has been favorably resolved and Clan MacNessa can eat again.
Daffodils are doing well - more burst into bloom today - we should have a reasonable display for Easter Sunday. The snow is all gone - it didn't hang around long at all.
We're warming up here a little. We were at 50F today - expect to be in the high 50's over the weekend.
Spring can't come soon enough for me!

He did indeed! He had some quirks from having been feral. He was about two when we got him and had been out in the wild for about a year and a half. Still, it was obvious that he had been in a home during at least part of his puppy-hood - he had good social skills and he absolutely adored Mrs. MacNessa. Would not let any strangers near her.

Hurrah for the resolution with the bank! Eating is a good thing.
Cool that your daffodils will be at their finest for Easter Sunday.
I’m really ready for this newest 12+” to melt, that is for sure.

Twelve inches? We've had less than twelve inches here all Winter! Our snow this week was a paltry 2 or 3 inches and it didn't stick on the roads because the temp was above freezing.
What happened to the epic snowfalls of my youth? The Blizzard of 1957? Six foot high snowdrifts in my front yard. In February 1966, we had a double whack in D.C. Land - 16" followed by another 14" two days later. Later in the 60's, we had a Winter where it snowed on Veterans' Day and there was snow on the ground without abatement until late March.
When I was in Law School at U of Miami (1976 - the year it snowed in Miami), I flew back up to Maryland in February to visit my parents - there was at least two feet of snow on the ground - it had lain there so long that the surface was hard crusted ice - having been repeatedly thawed and refrozen.
Nothing recent compares. Could it be that that maggot AlGore is right?

He was indeed, Kathy! We still miss him. Thank the Lord we have Sir Winston - he is a real joy. John Man and I wanted to get an English Bulldog (50 lbs. at adulthood), but Mrs. MacNessa wanted a "teacup" dog. We compromised on Sir Winston, a Silky Terrier - 9 pounds of fun, scrappiness and love.
