LIVE on C-SPAN2: Senate Session
(Excerpt) Read more at c-span.org ...
Paul supports the Constitution . That IMO trumps all. Brennan is not mytop 50 choice for DCI, but this POTUS is not going to name anyone better so opposing the nomination and voting against it is symbolic. But defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that is something to support and celebrate.
I agree.
Rand Paul says Bush started things, but obama has expanded it to new levels that Pres. Bush could never have imagined.
The use of “imminence” in the military argument about pre-empetive strikes is now being brought to the US. Is this what we want?
If we say al Q is always attacking us, and we say you are a member of al-Q, shouldn’t you get your day in court? (unlike overseas where you can be droned)
It’s not that any of this is new news, as we’ve heard it all before in bits and pieces. It’s amazing to hear it laid out like this on the floor of the Senate. Kudos to Rand Paul. And to all those who are backing him up on the Senate floor.
Jaw-dropping. Scary. Gives me hope.
I’ll be VERRRRRRY interested in hearing what Levin says about this (if anything). He talks a good Constitutional game, but when push comes to shove, sides with the Police State.
I’ll bet anyone a beer that he either ignores this or opposes it. I hope I’m wrong. Tuning in now ....
This is a fascinating to listen to Paul talk. I applaud him for using this opportunity to educate Americans. Now talks about Eugene Robinson caling the drone strikes (on Americans?) wrong.
Paul supports the Constitution
**********
As Paul said earlier, people who join the Constitution Party are domestic terrorists per this administration. We are all on a watch list and hopefully this will be reported in the media for the libs to see but I won’t hold my breath.
Mr. President, are you going to have “Terrorist Tuesdays” for Americans.
(Hey, where are the other senators giving Paul a break?)
This needs to be recorded and required viewing in the schools. A short but powerful history lesson.
All the other senators can do is ask Paul a long question to give him a small break. This is pretty much all on Paul.
“All the other senators can do is ask Paul a long question to give him a small break. This is pretty much all on Paul.”
Did they appear, just to say they were there? Rand Paul is getting a second wind. WHERE ARE the other senators?
They can ask long questions......read others’ long speeches, and ask him what he thinks about that...etc. Where are they?
He’s getting tired. Can he take bathroom breaks?
There are others there. I am hoping as this goes on, that others step to the podium to speak and ask questions...and allow Senator Paul to at least take a bathroom break and grab a bite to eat. What a process. I’m dedicating myself to stay tuned to C-Span online and on TV for as long as he is on. And I’ve been calling the Senators’ offices to express support for this process. Senator Paul’s voicemail is full. I got through to Toomey and Ron Wyden’s offices, left a voicemail for Reid (and noted his abdication) and am going down the list.. :-)
“This needs to be recorded and required viewing in the schools. A short but powerful history lesson.”
Yes it does! Said in post 73:
Rand Paul is making history today! Will history notice?
He could have read the dictionary, but instead he is requiring of himself to expound on the principles of our Constitution, Bill of Rights, separation of powers, posse comitatus, habeas Corpus, the sloppy bills Congress passes, etc, etc. Now approaching his 4th hour.
By word count, I cant remember the last time I heard the words Constitution and Republic repeated so often- just not repeated, but explained!
The criticism that he repeats himself... thumbs up to Paul! Anyone else care to intelligently filibuster for 4 hours? Moreover, repetition is a well-tested educational device.
Any Senators not joining Paul are being exposed for the self-interested anti-Constitutionalist cowards that they are.
**********************
Rand Paul is moving into his 7th hour of SUBSTANTIVE filibustering!!!
Where are the other senators!!!
They need to load their questions to the Congressman with real meat and potato information. The government needs to have its laundry hanging before us!
You need to pay closer attention to Rand Pauls recent voting record.
He “seems” to talk a good game but then caves.
Dear Heavenly Father-
We can not fight this battle, against injustice, on our own. We know we need your mighty, out stretched hand to provide for us, because this is bigger than any of us.
Please bless this time, and these people, who fight for our rights. Please awaken the citizens. We ask, Father, we are given another chance to have a country that will bring glory to your name, Jesus. We thank you for the freedoms that we have received from your hand, we know they have not come to us easily or freely- and that good people have laid their lives down for us to be free, and we have taken them for granted. We have been lazy, we have expected other people to pay attention to the details. We have worried too much about being popular with people who oppose justice and freedom. And we pray and ask for your blessing going forward. Please provide strength and courage to the people who represent us in our government. Please build a coalition who desire peace and justice again. Please provide them with provisions for their battle- and please build a bipartisan fellowship, in Washington DC, to bring healing to our country. Please restore us to a country who knows, and stands for, and represents justice and mercy. Not just for us, the citizens, but that we are known around the world for having just and fair laws and dealings with others. We do not want an endless war with anyone. We wish peace for others, and for us, Lord. Let all good men and woman come to the aid of Senator Rand, if it is your will, to protect our rights, once again. Bless your name , Father. Bless those who pray these things along with me. Amen.
in Jesus name, Amen! Great post.
