DURHAM — Duke University and 38 members of its 2005-06 men’s lacrosse team notified a federal judge on Wednesday that they’d settled the players’ lawsuit out of court.

The brilliant minds of Duke University were led into the gutter by Al Sharpton, a street hustler from the hood. I hope they paid plenty for the experience.
They didn’t need Sharpton. They could find that gutter all by themselves.
I’ve always said it, as a 5-year resident of Durham (thankfully no more), it’s a poisonous, evil place. And Duke is the worst part of it...a mixture of ultra-liberal guilty white academics sitting in the middle of a town run by black racists and white enablers. The second that Crazy Crystal Mangum started claiming rape, those students were never going to get a fair hearing either from the university or the city. It’s a measure of how far everything went that it took a Democratic state attorney general to slap down fellow Rat Mike Nifong and completely exonerate the three students of all charges.
Mangum, BTW, is sitting in jail up on murder charges for stabbing her last boyfriend to death.

Amen. Those cretins absolutely refuse to apologize for their reprehensible behavior. Instead, they blame the media and bloggers for publicizing their ad — basically, they’re blaming the witnesses of their crime.

If you had access to all of the ‘settled out of court’ cases involving universities, you wouldn’t have to look for additional reading material for quite a long time.

Unfortunately, they probably got very little, because the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit threw out most of their case last month.
Duke’s endowment as of 2012 was $5.5 billion dollars. That’s billion - 5,600 million dollars. (and their earnings on it are tax free).
I expect they could pay out what would seem like a fairly lucrative settlement out the earnings from their endowment, and it would barely be noticed.
And alumni sheep (with sheepskins to prove it) will continue to donate.
Not enough bad things can happen to Mike Nifong, IMHO.

Only because the kids parents were rich were they able to hire the best law team available.
Still amazes me that Nifong is not in prison and can walk down the street a free man. Where have all the vigilantes gone?
