Unfortunately, they probably got very little, because the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit threw out most of their case last month.
Duke’s endowment as of 2012 was $5.5 billion dollars. That’s billion - 5,600 million dollars. (and their earnings on it are tax free).
I expect they could pay out what would seem like a fairly lucrative settlement out the earnings from their endowment, and it would barely be noticed.
And alumni sheep (with sheepskins to prove it) will continue to donate.
