Everything I just said is dependant of course on if this is really the situation and not some sort of scam.
The donations go directly to the vet’s office, not the pet owner. Any potential donor can call the vet to make sure it’s legit and I bet it is.

Yep, my dog literally almost never leaves my side when I am at home. Our family will be crushed the day he departs, whenever that eventually comes. But I know that Jesus will give me my dog back when in heaven.

I’m with you, these poor people just lost everything they had, and now are fearful of losing their best friend on top of that. They are traumatized and feeling dislocated from their lives, and probably have little means of replacing the essentials to live off of, let a lone vet expenses. This is a simple case for not just charity but mercy.

OR maybe these people could use the INSURANCE money they will get to pay for the expensive treatment they chose for a DOG.
No one denies someone the right to beg for bills they ran up...this REEKS of high-tech pan handling....aided and abetted by the media.
Frankly, I am tired of seeing the media draw attention to these so-called victims...there are hundreds of children abused, unborn babies murdered, and women beaten....instead, if the media isn’t burying its collective noses into Obama’s backside, they’re trolling for “victims” who have met up with unremarkable accidents.
How could this be a scam when the video of the fire was done by a news station and the news station says to contact the Veterinarian Hospital with any donations/financial help for the poor little doggie? Please explain what I am missing here

I love dogs just like most people do, but the few months of low-quality life are not worth it. Let him go and use those funds to save a young pup from an animal shelter, before it is too late. I have watched this sad scenario played out a hundred times with clients paying thousands for just a few more months of miserable life.

Perhaps a more charitable action would be if the animal hospital would eliminate their profit margin off the actual cost of saving the animal.

(See how easy that works? That’s what charity is about. I could have any number of reasons for not donating to you. My reasons are my own. You could have any number of reasons to ask for help. In a free country, we get to decide when and if we want to participate in wealth redistribution.)

Well, that’s pretty much possible whether or not the government is involved. It’s not like government wealth redistribution programs aren’t rife with fraud and waste. They are. In (voluntary) charity situations, you might very well be scammed, but it’s your choice. You get to decide. Isn’t that grand? I think so. I also think you can sue for fraud if the charity doesn’t turn out to be legit. You probably won’t get your money back, but the chances of getting your money back from government wealth redistributions is nil.

Well, it’s their choice how to pay for the dog. It’s your choice on whether or not to help them. Don’t like it? Don’t donate. It’s really as simple as that.
BTW, I know there is no shortage of people in need. Like you mentioned, there are battered women, hungry children, etc. You’re free to donate as much as you want to whoever you want or donate nothing at all. So what if the media is trolling for victims. If you own a media company, you can tell it what charities you want publicized.
I don’t know why the concepts of voluntary charity and the right of people to do what they want with their private property are so radical.
