Exactly, Why is anyone even having a debate. Even Wikipedia knows the answer as per this exerpt:

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights. The Supreme Court of the United States first ruled in 2008 that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess and carry firearms.[1]

In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two landmark decisions officially establishing this interpretation. In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia[1][2] and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home within many longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession listed by the Court as being consistent with the Second Amendment.[3] In McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 3025 (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government.[4]

Post #1 on this thread has a great explanation of the 2nd Amendment. The key word is that it was an "amendment". Check it out.

The premise of the question is false.

The U.S. Constitution is not in the rights creation business. The Second Amendment isn’t a right, it doesn’t convey any rights, and doesn’t guarantee any rights.

The Second Amendment forbids the limitation of the pre-existing right of all individuals to keep and bear arms.

All human experience occurs at the level of individuals. The concept of “collective” anything is a communist fantasy.

The federal courts have repeatedly interpreted the prohibition on establishment of religion to apply to federal, State, and local governments. Clearly the Second Amendment prohibition on infringement extends to all levels of government, whether or not this has been violated in practice.

No, I only did “collective”, as that is a term that is not associated with the founding of this country in any way.

It is however a term that is associated with the downfall of this country.

Similarly, power no longer flows fromt he bottom up. Rather it flows from the government to the government. People are given the illusion of power via their vote, but I believe that power is nothing more than an illusion.

And regarding all rights being collective rights and individual rights, that may well be true, however we have a substantial number of people who bear those very rights that also deny them.

Sadly, some of the stupidest people on the face of the earth and in the history of man populate America in 2013.

JFK would be considered a redneck Republican by today’s politicians.

Not treasonous and we are bound to it until they overstep and egregiously violate that contract and offend us to the point we are forced to act and repair or sentry and individualaty by throwing off their all encompassing blanket which seeks to control us at a minimum or at its maximum smother us.....to death.

“When in the course of human events....”

Until then we are and will be in the constant struggle to assert our right and maintain our freedom and seek for opportunities to free all men and preserve their individual right.

Absolutely.

Or it can serve to educate those who are confused, unaware or consciously ignorant.

Yep but, it should never have come to that. However, it is once again affirmed.

I wasn’t referring to your assertion of the INDIVIDUAL. You are wrong if you believe that you are a freeman is what I am saying. It’s not my link but it will teach you who holds the power today.
