More boycott lib targets.
29 hour shifts for Pizza Hut workers were I live. Not sure if national policy. Was the goal here to get as many people as possible 100% reliant on government healthcare?
These workers will now need 2 jobs where they had one.
We are now France.
Just wait.....now the company needs 4 employees to do the work previously done by 3. Presto! Unemployment goes down.

Dirty little secret is....2 out of those 3 are already incredibly lazy, and whoever you find to be #4 will be even worse.
“”For the average person who has one of these jobs, it really means a 58 hour week since they now need two jobs.””
I wonder if more jobs will just become salaried, where hours worked becomes a lot more blurry.
The new norm...until Congress passes legislation that anyone working more than 20 hours per week is deemed as a full time employee, at which time the companies will begin instituting 19 hour work weeks and again Congress will pass legislation that anyone working more than 10 hours per week is deemed to be a full time employee at which time companies will simply replace as many people with processes, systems and machines as possible.
Imagine the unintended consequences of politicians where pizza delivery (and their jobs) becomes a nostalgic piece of the past to be replaced by a Red Box style of kiosk where one picks up a heated pre-made pizza. Mmmmmm mmmmm gooood!
This is what they did in France, reducing the work week to 30 hours with a boatload of mandatory vacation every year.
Employers had to hire a lot more people to do the same job,
or, just reduce output accordingly.
Remember that these are mostly franchises, doing what they have to do to survive economically
Obama’ Job Sharing Plan
'Disability' is the new inner city welfare... collect Social Security for 30, 40, 50, or 60 years. Bankrupt the system for people who really are disabled - and for the elderly ... - AND recipients are allowed to work part time. There might be method to his madness...
Remember the British comedy "Keeping Up Appearances"? I think the character "Onslow" had just such a station in life...
Unexpectedly of course!
I predict a regulation in response to all these companies going to shorter work weeks. It will provide that if an employee has worked over 30 hours per week for 5 weeks in the past year, they are a fulltime worker, even if their hours have been cut back. Obama is not going to allow employers to play games. After that, they will forbid firing workers if they claim you are doing it to avoid health care costs, if your company can afford it. They will determine what a fair profit is. We are only getting started on this road.
Self-respect seems so “quaint” now. With the possibility of life-long “disability” payments...why work? Chumps work.
end sarcasm.
Let’s see - the federal government gives away free phones and some people have 6 or 8 of these phones. The federal government establishes a 30 hour per week ceiling and some employers go to 29 hours. Can’t these Nobel-winning morons see that people act in their own interest regardless of what the government does?
“well they should have voted that way!”
Unfortunately, most of the voters CHOSE to leave themselves uneducated about the issues and simply had the belief that what ever uncle bammy was telling them was true and that his policies would not adversely affect them. I can’t say I feel sorry for most of them.
This is why some of here have been pounding the table since GWB’s 2nd term that U-6 is the real unemployment number, not the “headline” U-3 number. U-6 counts this kind of “underemployed” worker, and has been well above 8% for well over a decade.
People also need to aware that this is a short term solution to Obamacare. The long term solution for industries like restaurants which are dependent upon large numbers of low paid employees is embark upon a crash program of automation. It is certainly technologically possible to run a fast food place with one or two employees.
The greasy spoon diners with a cook and a waitress at the bar is coming back!! We’re going back... to the future!!
