Military expert Paula Broadwell, who was allegedly improperly involved with resigned CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus, confirmed in October that the CIA annex in Benghazi asked for reinforcements when the consulate came under attack on September 11
Broadwell was speaking at her alma mater, the University of Denver, on October 26. Her lecture, which is on YouTube under the title "Alumni Symposium 2012 Paula Broadwell," now has added value, because based on the recent disclosures, it can now be assumed that she indeed knew exactly what it was that Petraeus knew about the attack.
Broadwell confirmed the reports on Fox News that the CIA annex asked for a special unit, the Commander in Chief's In Extremis Force, to come and assist it. She said that the force could indeed have reinforced the consulate, and that Petraeus knew all of this, but was not allowed to talk to the press because of his position in the CIA.
"They were requesting the – it's called the C-in-C's In Extremis Force – a group of Delta Force operators, our very, most talented guys we have in the military. They could have come and reinforced the consulate and the CIA annex. Now, I don't know if a lot of you have heard this but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner, and they think that the attack on the consulate was an attempt to get these prisoners back.
"The challenging thing for Gen. Petraeus is that in his new position, he's not allowed to communicate with the press. So he's known all of this – they had correspondence with the CIA station chief in Libya, within 24 hours they kind of knew what was happening."

It was already known there had been prisoners before she made that talk. She also didn’t talk about the affair - it was HIS emails sent to her that let that out.

Yeah, always reminds me of the saying that sexual relations shouldn’t be happening in the military. Well, I guess I am also hearing an “I told you so” regarding what’s coming up. (Soldiers being promoted for being lovers of the general, anyone?)
So is DU her alma mater or West Point?
We need a timeline. She said in October that there were prisoners in the ministry in Benghazi. But, she had the affair months ago. The FBI didn’t start investigating Petraeus because of what Broadwell said in Denver this October. The FBI and Holder were investigating Petraeus for months.
Agreed, we need to keep ourselves focused on Benghazi, NOT this torrid love affair.

I am not sure of what to make of all of this, yet. But, if you know that someone may testify against you, it is best to discredit them, their anticipated testimony and the jury pool well before they take the stand.
Another option is to eliminate the threat. Considering the totality of the known circumstance, it would be easy to sell to the American people that Petraeus committed suicide or that the enormous stress he is suffering cause a fatal heart attack.
Petraeus needs to testify, tell nothing but the truth and to do that ASAP.

Here we have a statement that was made on the same day that FOX released its investigation on Benghazi, a statement from a source we now know was intimately connected to Petraeus.
Imagine how the WH must have reacted to this story. When was the video up on YouTube? Consider how important it was for the WH to make sure that they could control what Gen Petraeus but also LtCol Brodswell said in public.
But this torrid love affair is simply the first (or second) move on this chess board (on which Benghazi is a part).
Now Petraeus, when asked to testify before Congress, will ask for immunity from prosecution (and will get it). He cannot (he need not) take the 5th for anything he might say. If it is classified, it will be said behind closed doors.
He will speak about Benghazi and will, I suspect, speak on other subjects as well...opening the doors to impeachment.
With all due respect, Mary.......hence the “by all accounts” modifier in my reply above, based upon comments and observations from her friends and neighbors.

Surely the fact that CIA had 3 militia prisoners must have been Secret or Top Secret information, as this, to my knowledge, is the first time it has come to light. What’s interesting/odd is that I thought this affair ended many months ago. So why was Petraeus sharing such sensitive info with her in October? And was he doing so via his presumably unencrypted personal Gmail account? And if his Gmail was being monitored, didn’t anyone in the FBI pick up on this fact etc.? This “most transparent administration in history” has some serious ‘splainin’ to do!

No matter what the timeline of the beginning of the affair to now is just nonsense.
Speculating on what Petaerus did or did not do takes the attenton away from the Coward in Chief OBAMA, the sorry POS. Let's not help them.
Obama ALONE is responsible for what did not happen in Benghazi, which was sending HELP.

Yes, but that only proves that the WH (via DOJ) knew about the affair when LTC Broadswell gave her talk.
The WH had the motive and the means to pressure Petraeus.

You are assuming he, his wife, his children and any other close associates and their families, businesses and colleagues live.
