The excremental liberal press is boycotting coverage of this to protect Obama but Fox is covering it. Staten Island has received zero help after four days. Bloomberg has stolen three huge generators to power marathon tents and given no help to the people of Staten Island. The entire borough is a ruined disaster. No food, no water, no gasoline, the homeless wandering across the island with no shoes, no socks, injured, starving, crying for help from camera crews. People fighting one another over dumpster garbage. Death toll rising.
Another Liberal success story.
Have we heard whether any of the deaths came from people who weren’t in zone A flood areas—and therefore subject to supposedly ‘mandatory’ evacuation on Sunday?
This is the sort of thing where if people weren’t so dependent on the big government, they’d have better organized precinct-type captains and volunteers, going knocking on doors, especially hounding the elderly, and putting up notices soon enough for full evacuation.
Also, I could see urging people to evacuate to emergency shelters immediately, and then find their way on to friend or family accommodations, if that’s what they want, from there.
Only Libtards would refuse to offer these generators to the homeless, starving, and dying. But then, I repeat myself.
True, no one could have predicted the effect of this storm.
But there is a clear difference in the media coverage of this storm vs. the coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
good point
Do you really expect the state run media to blame 0 bummer like they did Bush? I don't think so.
I guess the question then would be whether others—such as the City itself—have tried to rent more local generators but been turned down because there aren’t any more available.
And if not, why not?
Wasn't a Tidal Wave it was a tidal surge. And yeah it was predicted days beforehand over and over.
He is on the local radio pimping the jobs report. WABC 770
This must be horrendous for all of those people.
The best I can do is pray for them.
Did you write this “news release” yourself, or are you quoting Fox News? Bloomberg, as bad as he is, hasn’t “stolen” generators. A private company rented them (before the disaster) for a marathon. They are private property, and Bloomberg will have to compensate the owners if he does indeed take the generators at some point.
I’m also skeptical about the dumpster diving reports. From what I understand, a grocery store dumped water damaged groceries. I assume some of the food was undamaged beyond the packaging. Were the people dumpster diving because they were starving (seems unlikely after only a couple of days), or were they really just taking advantage of the free food?
Baloney.
SI had two bad days, when power outages peaked at about 70%. That's no fun, but it's not the end of the world. Your food will not spoil in two days, especially in cool weather. Over 50% of customers had service restored by early yesterday. Right now well over 2/3 of customers have power. So this is not the end of the world. This is not another Katrina (I was out of power for a MONTH -- crybaby). There is no life-threatening cold in the immediate forecast.
I am very sorry for the loss of life, and for the destruction suffered by those in flood zones (I trust they are insured and will be able to rebuild, perhaps a little higher above grade).
For most people in SI right now, things are back to normal except that gas is hard to find. Y'all did fill up ahead of the storm, right? You did reserve some water for cooking and flushing? You had more than four days worth of food in the house? May I remind you that Sandy killed just as many human beings in Haiti as in the USA, and that 200,000 destitute people are homeless refugees. Can you spare a tear and a prayer for them? So let's mourn the real victims and help those in real trouble and let everybody else get over their drama and spoiled self-pity.
If only Obama would show his school transcripts then the Donald can donate his $5 million to relief efforts.
Okay--you are the first that I have heard say this. To me, it makes a big difference if people were warned and did not heed the warning. As far as I'm concerned, they're on their own..............and maybe that makes me cold hearted........
Earlier today JR had a meltdown over Libya.
CNN (Anderson Cooper) reported last night the Red Cross was helping the wealthy neighborhoods first. Cooper is about the only one on CNN that does any honest reporting. I try and catch his program every night.
I heard this morning that the Red Cross was delayed because of the massive traffic jams in the area. Which would sound plausible except - I’ve seen American helicopters deliver aid in disaster areas around the world. Why don’t they just send in a few helicopters with National Guard support for crowd control?
How dumb do you have to be under these circumstances not to have a couple weeks of food squirreled away?
Nah, athletes are too tough and stringy!
Dittos to that - I got a phone call from my boss yesterday who lives on SI and they weren’t in dire straits - not to say there aren’t pockets where it’s real bad, and the homeless may well be in bad shape.
