Republican Rep. Paul Ryan stopped by a soup kitchen in Youngstown, Ohio, over the weekend for what seemed to be your typical campaign photo opportunity. During his 15-minute visit on Saturday morning, the vice presidential candidate donned a white apron and offered to wash some dishes thatas several bloggers and a pool reporter later pointed outdid not appear to be dirty.
But according to the president of Mahoning County's St. Vincent De Paul Society, the faith-based charity that runs the soup kitchen, the campaign did not have permission and "ramrodded their way" into the facility.

A tempest in a soup pot.
The formerly great St Vincent de Paul Society, alas, has a huge number of leftists in it - the sort of “Peace and Justice” types who are the kind of parish lefties who write letters praising Obama and urging all Catholics who “care about justice” to vote for him. One of our parish lefties, also a St Vincent de Paul volunteer, wrote just such a letter to our local paper, days after our bishop had come out to remind us that Catholics could not vote for anyone who held the positions on abortion and freedom of conscience such as those held by “certain candidates,” meaning Obama.
This appearance had to have been arranged in advance, and the lefty president of the group probably couldn’t get enough support from the board to stop it and was just angry about it.
And...he walked in the door with an apron in his hands? Or, did someone on the charity's staff welcome him in the door and hand him an apron?
I suppose there would be no complaints if Obama showed up for a photo op.
Wow, outraged that a practicing Catholic would visit a Saint Vincent De Paul’s Soup Kitchen? Ryan has probably donated thousands of dollars to his local chapter through his church.
Out of all the Pols that visited my KOC pancake breakfast last year. The only one who made a donation was Scott Brown.
Just because you belong to the Soceity St. Vincent De Paul doesn’t mean you’re not a CINO.
I was president of our St. V d P in our local church. When they were urging support for “healthcare reform” (and Obamacare was the only one on the table), I forwarded to the Canon running the church, and he agreed to pull out. We are now the St. Francis de Sales Society.
Axelrod calls the shots with Jarrett and Soros.
Hit piece du jour.
The only thing sweeter than seeing Obama lose on election night is the sputtering of the media. They should know something as they fume and scowl live on TV as states turn red....you did this to yourself media.
Self preservation; if it was known that Ryan was there because he was invited, they'd have to hire security to prevent the rioting or vandalism by their beloved liberal brethren.
One of my lefty acquaintances posted this on facebook yesterday, and got absolutely no comments in reply.
I mean, really! This administration has given us astronomical, and climbing, debt levels. They gave the F&F fiasco, bungling at Benghazi, Obamacare, the destruction of business, record unemployment, etc, etc, etc ...... and we are supposed to think it is terrible that Paul Ryan washed a pot that wasn’t dirty?
I just had to chuckle. It’s another indicator that they are grasping at straws in desperation. They’re in free-fall and they’ve got nothing better to stop their slide into losing this election. It’s a great sign, IMO.
I spend time at the local Detroit Soup Kitchens. One of the things I noticed is nobody checks your credentials at the door to see if you are a Republican or a Democrat. Nobody questions the amount of time that you “VOLUNTER” to help.
I wish he hadn’t done it though. It really doesn’t accomplish a thing. Nobody even thinks for a minute the old fashioned way of being pictured kissing babies and feeding the poor makes a difference. I hate it and lose a little respect for that kind of campaigning. Reminds me of the old Mafia figures who walked through the streets waving and handing out candy. Then he stops in a barber shop to collect tribute. I’m stretching big time....but I don’t like the gesture.
If Ryan had not visited the place while being nearby, the media would have said it showed Ryan’s and Republican’s lack of heart towards helping the poor. He didn’t even bother to stop and look at all the poor, hungry people. The cold, heartless jerk. In short, heads we (libs) win, tails you (conservatives) lose.
And the complainer described himself as an independent voter, when in fact he has regularly voted in RAT primaries. A liar, like most liberals.
CINO - I like that. I’m gonna start using it when I argue with Catholics who are libtards.
A perfect example of how the Catholic Church is not in full-throated opposition to Obama (and is frankly prepared to start paying for birth control no matter what they say).
At our Mass on Sunday we got one line at the end of the Homily and one line in our bulletin directing us to go to our Parish website were we could view a video produced by the Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding Obamacare and the upcoming vote.
Now THAT’S strong stuff! /sarc
