U.S. Homeland Security is preparing for an all-out American Spring rebellion and has bought 1.2 billion bullets for counterterrorist snipers.
---------------------
It is the type of ammunition and not necessarily the quantity that is troubling, James Smith Prepper Podcast was quoted as saying.
All of the sniper grade ammunition is being used by trained, or in-the-process-of-being-trained snipers, wrote Smith. Adding up the number of lethal bullets tallies a potential 135,384 kills for the snipers, based on U.S. Army and Marine figures from the Vietnam War, when soldiers used 1.3 rounds of ammunition for each verified kill.

If this happens, talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Like the mother who goes next door for a minute and tells her son, "Now, sweetie, don't put M & M's up your nose while I'm gone."

Most of what I've heard of in bulk has been .40JHP.

What I recall hearing is hundreds-of-millions of rounds of .40 and 5.56x45, 140,000 rounds of 7.62x51.
Thought I’d seen you on some of the threads discussing those orders/purchases.
I’ve pointed out before that bullets by themselves are pretty worthless. I still haven’t seen a story say they are ordering cartridges.
Well, yeah... ;)
I like to know what my government is up to. It's like a spoiled child you have to keep an eye on.

Remember the newspaper headline:
“Bullets are flying off the shelves”
LOL
Hmmm! I wonder whether President You Didn’t Build That might be considering having the EPA declare lead illegal to use in bullets.
HSD and various government agencies buy bullets.
However, many military, border guards, and overseas security only get rubber bullets or beanbags.
It would seem that this administration is more fearful of the citizenry than they are of Mexican drug cartels, al Qaeda and militant Islamic factions.
“308 JHP boattail is sniper Ammo.”
That is also a target round. I personally like the Nosler ballistic tips in my .308 for long range work, but prefer my 30-338 loaded with Hornady BTSPs at 2994 fps for work over 800 meters.
I question the 1.3 rounds per kill in Vietnam, and I seriously doubt that many of our LEOs can equal range stats once they take return fire.
We are, after all, more dangerous. ;)

0bama said on Letterman that the debt was not a problem short term,so we absolutely know that zero will continue his unrestrained spending via no budgets and EOs if re-elected. To avoid default, we will have even more debt monetization and rampant inflation of staple items will ensue despite economic contraction. The EBT cards won’t pay for squat when food prices skyrocket.
Assuming for just a moment that their may still remain a single honest America loving journalist in the USA, why have I not heard a questions posed to that obama puppet during the daily news briefings as to the reason for these ammunition purchases?
Seems like a simply logical question and I would love to hear their answer.

Since the subject has been broached which Civilian versions of the various bolt action rifles on the market are considered to be good for that particular task as well as for hunting?
Just in case someone wanted to round out their collection with a sniper/hunting type weapon while we still can buy them
Lol, somebody has a lot of loading to do!
I was wondering the same thing about the calibers, but I guess if you look at the possible kill number and the multiplier of 1.3, then they’re talking about a small subset of the 1.2 billion rounds of ammo.
Why would SNAP cards stop working? EMP attack?
It’s the 400 million rounds of 168 gr HPBT .308 that is sniper grade.

Basically anything bolt action .30 cal or higher with a decent scope will do nicely ... The un-pc answer is to acquire one from someone that is assuming room temp.

An additional 200 million bullets are to be purchased, according to Infowars.com writer and author Paul Joseph Watson.
The new purchase is for .223 rifle ammunition, plus another 176,000 rounds of .308 caliber 168 grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) rounds in addition to 25,000 rounds of blank .308 caliber bullets.
