which ‘Civilian’ versions of the various bolt action rifles on the market are considered to be good for that particular task as well as for hunting?

Basically anything bolt action .30 cal or higher with a decent scope will do nicely ... The un-pc answer is to acquire one from someone that is assuming room temp.
