REPORTS: No Live Ammo for Marines
The Washington Free Beacon ^ | Sept 13. 2012 | Adam Kredo

Posted on 09/13/2012 9:38:46 AM PDT by Cliff Dweller

U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.

Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”

If true, the reports indicate that Patterson shirked her obligation to protect U.S. interests, Nightwatch states.

To the Obama administration, Marines are expendable.

A strong probability, one would surmise, or at least one paying attention would speculate. The leaks are well known as to the sources. Could go higher than Huma. Nothing is out of the realm of possibilities and probabilities with the crowd in power.

Nothing... and I mean NOTHING... surprises me anymore. Just think of the most stupid thing that can be done... like Marines without ammo... and there it is.

I personally believe that our ME embassies should have mine fields, too.

Somebody want to remind me where an apologist ambassador gets the authority to disarm a US Marine? Not on my watch. I can picture a blabby mouthed ambassador learning all about a butt stroke? It used to be considered a good assignment to get posted to an embassy. Now it sounds more like a suicide wish. All these Obamuzzie apologists are going to come to grief. They are clearly seen by the muzzies/’rabs as the “weakest link”. I just hope none of out Marines get hurt humoring these high nosed pieces or work-——————————Semper Fi.

At the Baghdad facility, we had a State communicator and our “other” comcen. All crypto equipment and associate documents were locked in safes at night. There about four different levels of security so we would know if there had been any penetration by Saddam’s goons, who were on us like Holy on the Pope.

Oh you mean that divorced hot headed crazy Hollyweird actor??? He will never be president....

He is no Reagan, I grant that, but Mitt did a good job condeming what happened in Libya and Egypt (even by our own embassy ‘staff’) and in support of the citizen’s right to Constitutionally protected freedoms

I used to work for Anne Patterson at another embassy. She's a former classmate of Hildabeast. With that said, she wasn't a horrendously bad ambassador, but typically liberal. In fact, she has had some challenging assignments, most notable, Colombia. With that said, I wouldn't give too much credence to the reports until they are confirmed. Patterson isn't a total idiot. Or at least, that was my impression of her.

It would be a stretch to suggest Hildabeast "ordered" Anne to take ammo from the Marines. Hildabeast is smarter than that, and knows she doesn't need to open a fight with the Marine Corps, the later being the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist when dealing with the MSM to form public opinion.

Just my take.

yes sir!.........but, I will match you and raise you a hunerd!...........a young marine should have the “right” written into his contract, to throw down his weapon and quit in the face of such an order.............meaning it ought to be illegal in any event to order a young marine to face imminent and potentially deadly danger with a unloaded weapon! What an insult to these young men!

I despise the liberal bitch that gave this order and the officer that permitted it! When I signed, I signed to”obey all “lawful” orders! This should be an unlawful order!

Thank GOD this is finally seeing the light of day. The WFB had it on their site yesterday at least. I was passing it out as much as I could. I suspect the WH is in full spin mode, conferring with this idiot ambassador and lining up their ducks so they can come out with some seemingly plausible justification about what went down. WE know what went down. Now all that’s left is to see how the left and media bootlickers are going to spin it. You know they will. The Marines are merely props for these people. God it just makes me sick. I’m saying prayers over how sick it makes me. RIP Ambassador Stevens. I hope you are in heaven. God Bless You, Sir.

You mean, the host country would know they had live ammo in their magazine? How? By sending a howling mob to rush their position? And if they get shot, instead of consummating their assault, then the host country would be offended?

You shouldn't have gotten the impression that I think either of those things from any of my posts.

Sorry! My communication skills - via the written word - seem to lately lack coherence! When I wrote “Great idea - not!” it was directed at whoever leaked to this information to the press - not you.

Obviously you are not responsible for the leak.

Thanks for the post!

I wonder what the ROE were for the Marines?? Fix bayonets vs RPG and live rounds? Someone needs to hang.

Hi, I found some interesting notes related to this Beacon article. It’s from a site called Nightwatch. I’d be interested in your take on it. There are notes from seemingly knowledgable people in the field.

http://www.kforcegov.com/Services/IS/NightWatch/NightWatch_12000175.aspx

Here’s a sample (my apologies for the length, though, it is only a piece of what’s there)

NightWatch Special Comment: Ambassador Anne Patterson’s April Glaspie moment.

Ambassador Anne Patterson, the US Ambassador to Egypt, experienced her ‘April Glaspie’ moment yesterday when she blamed Americans instead of Egyptians for attacking, storming and desecrating the US Embassy in Cairo and the US Flag.

Old hands will remember, April Glaspie, who was a rising star in the State Department’s constellation of diplomats. Her notorious conversation with Saddam Hussein in early 1990 led Saddam to believe that the US encouraged and condoned an Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

Having worked closely with US officials for a decade in the struggle and war against Iran, Saddam understood that everything after the Glaspie talk was plausible deniability by US President Bush, 41.

Glaspie misunderstood and misjudged the Iraqi leadership and the situation in Iraq. Patterson’s operations at the US Embassy in Cairo bespeak a comparable misjudgment of the Egyptian Arab situation, its volatility and the depth of anti-American sentiment.

She did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to USMC blogs. Thus she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.

In this respect, she did not defend US sovereign territory and betrayed her oath of office. She neutered the Marines posted to defend the embassy, trusting the Egyptians over the Marines
