Hewlett Packard now plans to layoff 29,000 employees, increasing the total number of job cuts by 2,000 over the next two years as it tries to kickstart growth.
HP, which will cut jobs through a combination of involuntary cuts and early retirement offers, expects to take charges of about $3.3 billion through the end of HP's 2014 fiscal year for the workforce reductions, it said in a regulatory filing on Monday.
HP will likely have cut 11,500 jobs by end of fiscal 2012, the company has said.

Samsung got a $1.05 Billion fine for copying Apple.
Then, HP comes out with this:
This looks like a pretty flagerant copy - perhaps HP would have been better off just abandoning the PC market when they made that announcement several months ago. HP can't afford a $1 Billion dollar judgement.

And yet the GOP thought it was a good idea to put Meg Whitman up against Moonbeam for governor.

Was that their last 1000 employees, or is there still someone left to turn out the lights?

My libtard brother has been with HP for 35 years. My dad tells me that my brother is about to take an early retirement package as a part of this down-sizing.
Thing is, he’s black, so isn’t that racist? I’m confused.

There are some tech-savvy folks here. I could use some advice.
I had experience with a couple good HP professional/business black and white (fast, reliable) printers over the years and went shopping for one for myself.
But the clerk told me HP quality isn’t what it used to be, based on printers coming in for repairs, and recommended the Brother brand. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen HP printers go downhill over the past few years.
Their PC/laptops have been poor for several years and I don’t recommend them to anyone.
I have heard good things about Brother laser printers and am probably going to go with one fairly soon.

If you are not printing tons and tons (the reason someone would buy a laser), check out Epson’s Workforce 645. Often goes on sale for around $100, slightly more than the cost of the cartridges. Great output quality and extremely fast (you will be surprised). A bit noisy but so quick it compensates for having something else clattering on for 3 times as long. Get the #127 cartridges for extended capacity. I believe they are cheaper but haven't measured it.
