If you are not printing tons and tons (the reason someone would buy a laser), check out Epson’s Workforce 645. Often goes on sale for around $100, slightly more than the cost of the cartridges. Great output quality and extremely fast (you will be surprised). A bit noisy but so quick it compensates for having something else clattering on for 3 times as long. Get the #127 cartridges for extended capacity. I believe they are cheaper but haven't measured it.

I’m going to at least one laser. My wife does a ton of mostly necessary (I guess) printing. I print very little myself.
