I love Free Republic. I enjoy posting and reading other peoples insights and ideas. But I'm troubled and confused by the fact that while we all post and read daily the horrible things that Barack Obama is doing to our great nation, we are encouraged to "sit this one out" or vote third party. I understand Mr. Robinson owns this site and agree with his views on probably most every subject. I appreciate the stand he has taken and how he has always been true to his beliefs. He has provided an outlet that is invaluable to the Conservative community.
We've been through one day of the Democratic convention and I'm terrified. Mitt Romney wasn't even my fifth choice, but, my God, what an Obama with no fear of running in another election will do with four more years is unfathomable. And he doesn't need Congress, the man rules by Executive Fiat. I don't want to live under Socialism, I don't want to have my church forced to act against its conscience, I don't want my guns taken away and my (limited) wealth redistributed. I was shocked when God was taken out of the Dems platform. They don't even try to hide their disdain for a higher power, just blatantly remove God from their entire belief system. Basically show their hand that they want Jerusalem taken away from Israel. I can't take it anymore! I hear how eloquent Michelle Obama's speech was and I want to be sick. All lies! My family contains many military members, mostly Marines, they are sickened by their CIC. We were brought up to respect the Office of the President, but I'm finding it harder and harder to do every day. My sister is out of work after 30 years at the same company, and she is in a deep depression. My elderly mother is in a nursing home and is still finding it hard to find a primary care doctor and Obamacare hasn't even fully kicked in!
I live in NY and could vote for Mickey Mouse and it would make no difference. But I just can't sit around and hope others will do what I won't and vote for Romney/Ryan. So, yes, I will admit to compromising some of my conservative principles in voting Romney/Ryan because I don't think we will survive as a nation with four more years of Obama. Ryan helps make that decision a little easier. And with all Romney's flip-flops, I still think he will help this country in ways Obama the in-over-his- head President never could. The stakes in this election are just to damn high.
Under the right conditions, our new party will draw 70% of the Republicans, 50% of the Independents and 20% of the Democrats.
If one chooses to join the battle to fight with his fellow patriots, why choose to fire only blanks?
Why serve under Benedict Arnold when you could serve under Washington?
If Romney was a complete unknown, I'd still have to take a chance. Four years ago I pulled for Romney as the un-McCain.
Romney wasn't my first choice, either. He was and is the first choice of, at least, one conservative I respect. Ann Coulter says he governs with more conservative enthusiasm than he talks. She has cited examples of this and said it was necessary to get elected in Massachusetts. I hope she remains right.
It's starting to look like Romney will win this in a landslide, but nothing is sure. That Obama is sure to win in several states tells me how far our society has drifted. If we lived in a federalist nation as first envisioned, that wouldn't matter, but we don't.
This year a vote for a third party candidate is a vote for Obama. If we sit at home in November, we are voting for Obama, with our feet. Indeed, anyone that votes for Obama, using any vehicle, does not want the United States to survive as a soveriegn nation.
Such is my opinion.
Posting without reading again, I see.
Based on the number of freepers who read nothing but your headline, I suggest that you change it.
Fight for the best candidate possible, but vote the best available.
In time, youll end up with both.

There is so much simplicity and truth in what you say that I have amazed so many find it hard to understand and instead claim they will stay home.
-——it does not seem to be panning out that way——
The presidential candidate is not the government.
The essence of the Tea Party has permeated the Republican fabric and will be felt in the House and the Senate. The bills passed with TP input will not be vetoed.
The concept of all or nothing does not apply to our form of government. Politics is said to be the art of the possible. We go forward adjusting the possible to our favor with in the constraints of available power.
You are as big a narcissist as Ubama.
Mac, it is ok. It is what I have been saying all along. You are not compromising your ideals or your soul! WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE THE REPUBLIC! This POTUS must be sent packing and we have no more time left.
Now we can all talk about the rapture taking us, revolting, going 3rd party etc.
Fact is we are at the point we are at. It is today and a reality dictates that we stand together and get to work to elect R&R. That’s all we have left and I do
agree with you, R&R love this country AND believe in God, Family, Country in that order.
We have our marching orders....get to work!
Thank You Jim Robinson for stating what some of us capitulated earlier to do, but you gave the signal to all. We promise you to kick Romney in the ——if he doesn’t do the job.
God Bless us all, and God Bless America!!
People that don’t vote R&R ARE casting a vote for Obama. This is a lesser of two evils situation and I’ve seen too much, to know that if Obama has his way America as we know it will cease to exist.
Ditto. I figured she'd be one heartbeat away from the Oval Office.
Both she and Ryan are the 'spoonful of sugar' to make the GOP-E candidate more palatable.
Bottom line...nobody tells me who to vote for....it’s called freedom.
I am not trying to change your mind, your convictions and your decisions will have to answer to God.
For me, I said the same thing until the Supreme Court placated to the liberals and decided they would not stand for the Constitution and the American people.
You do not have to answer me, but like I said you will answer to God. Stand on your principles. I respect that.
some of us don’t have time to read every thread.
This is an important one especially with some of the rhetoric here.
This post needs to be BTT every day until election day,try that?
So where is this General Washington of which you speak? I don’t see his name on the ballot. If he’s out there somewhere fighting against the current oppression and tyranny, why hasn’t his army made it to the real battle?I would love to live happy and free in a conservative or libertarian utopia. But unfortunately, this is a real world war we’re in... Romney / Ryan is our only alternative right now. Maybe someday, a new General Washington will arise. But I believe that a new General Washington is more likley to arise if our nations survives, than if it doesn’t.
And you’re voting for...?

Yes - I did.
If Barry Goldwater were alive today I believe he would tell you there is no need to think that you are compromising your conservastism by voting for the Republican ticket.

This ‘fallacy’ of conservatives should only vote conservative” has been a conditioned knee-jerk reaction. I read it everywhere that self identified “conservatives” will “pinch their noses and vote for Romney”...
And when these nose-pinching conservatives are challenged by the liberal left for doing something that appears non-conservative, the nose-pincher falls for the rancid bait.
