When the documentary "2016: Obama's America" was released at fewer than 200 theaters earlier this month, Democrats, liberals and other Obama supporters speedily dismissed it as a right-wing polemic, destined to quickly disappear into the nether land of late-night cable and GOP fundraisers.
But the movie, pushed nonstop by conservative talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others, took off. When it expanded nationwide to 1,091 screens last weekend, it earned $6.5 million, the seventh-highest weekend gross in the nation.
Finding a documentary among the top 10 box office moneymakers in any week "is very, very rare," said Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com. "And it seems to be a grassroots effort. It's not like I'm driving by any huge billboards here in Los Angeles."

Which also explains why he was given the so called Nobel Peace Prize based upon the left’s PREDICTIONS of what he was going to do. That’s a weird way to do things but it works for the left, I guess.
The only two people I know personally who voted for Hussein have now had serious buyer’s remorse.
In San Francisco you can parade down the street naked with piercings in every body part, but it's not safe to out yourself as a conservative.
I was telling my wife my idea to end all wars and end world hunger. Where do I pick up my prize?

And take along someone who is "on the fence."
Try this next time:
I talked Mrs. Chandler into going to see 2016 yesterday. On the way there we stopped at the bank and I went inside to cash a check. When I got back to the car, Mrs. Chandler talked me into going to Wally World instead of the movie. We ended up buying a new television.
That was one expensive movie.
I live up here near the Peoples Republic of Seattle. My mother (also a freeper) saw it Wednesday at a matinee, and she loved it, but noted there were only 12 in the theatre. I saw it Thursday at a 4:40 showing and there were only 13 of us in our theatre. Mrs Rainman made the comment that it was a great movie, but how is it going to impact people if everyone who saw was not going to vote for Obama anyway.
Very good movie for a documentary. Mrs Rainman and I had a real interesting conversation about Colonialism after we saw it, and what I pointed out to her is that now she can talk more intelligently to people about Obama’s agenda when it comes up ... thereby affecting people that did not see it ... and also we can now better predict what Obama can do in a particular situation now that we have a new theory on his ideology.
Ha! You sound like some of those Republicans that we send to D.C. They have all these good intentions, walk into the Capitol and come out having been talked into something entirely different!
Ditto here, we were surprised it was packed, originally it was going to be in town for a week only, now third week and still going strong from what I understand. And we are only 30 miles north of SF for crying out loud.
Went to my local theater where it’s been playing for over a week now. 7:30pm showing was about 60% full and I saw quite a few young faces.
This is the second time I saw it.
Democrats must be sending out the word to insert “disruptive” Obamabots to the theater. After the move, one couple shouted “lies, lies, lies!!! and some sort of mubling of too much military spending by Bush. They got shouted down quickly and left.
For a moment there I thought you went to Mr. Griswold’s Wally World instead of Mr. Walton’s Wally World.
[grin]
“Is the film still showing?”
We saw it this afternoon at a GA theater. It was about 3/4 full. I’d say that was pretty good for an afternoon showing.
Friday estimates just posted at Box Office Mojo...placed at #5 for the day, with a very respectable $1.6 million dollars...that ALSO moved it into the #5 position ALL-TIME among political documentaries...closing in on Michael Moore’s ‘Bowling for Columbine’...sic ‘em, Dinesh.
Egads! One of them eeeevil 1%ers huh ? !
LOL . . enjoy !
We thought it was an excellent film, well-researched, very beautifully and stylistically filmed. If given the chance, we'd see it again.
I wish every American could see this film, particularly young "diverse" Americans, whom I think would listen to Dinesh D'Souza... he and his family are originally from India. Dinesh explains his views about colonialism in India as a lead-in to the (far-left radical) Obama story. If you have any doubts, have no fear... Dinesh is totally pro-American and pro-capitalism. Excellent film!
Excellent!!
We saw "2016" tonight... my post is in #58. Loved it!
LOL... exactly! We saw it tonight, and loved it. (See post #58)
I'm actually shocked there haven't been riots or protests inside/outside theaters playing this movie...
